Send us a textThis episode is an intro to the gender diagnosis gap with ADHD and our ingrained masking behaviors from social pressures to be a "Good Girl". Masking behaviors are the ways in which we perform, pretend, and suppress our emotions to be accepted. “Be polite, be nice, be on time”...all of this keeps us from attending to our real ADHD symptoms. You can be free of the shame, anxiety, and masking, it just takes time and finding the right resources. There are significantly fewer women properly diagnosed because we are performing and just trying to keep it together rather than getting the help we need. There’s nothing wrong with us. We have symptoms that affect how our brain works, and it has nothing to do with our character. If you've been curious about how you've been feeling, this is a great resource of information.
