Hey, everybody. Welcome back to the Find Out podcast. We've got a big show for you today. We have one of America's best governors with us, the governor of Illinois, J.B. Pritzker is with us. Governor, how are you today? I'm doing great, Tim. How about you guys? We are. We are great. Now that we know that there was no complete wiping a whole group of people off the planet last night. So obviously, like we're recording this on Wednesday. So Trump made this quote unquote deal last night. And obviously it's the thing that everybody's talking about. We just want to get your initial reactions on what did we actually get? Because it doesn't look like very much to us.
It actually doesn't look like a deal. It looks like, you know, the people have talked about the fact that gas prices and oil prices should be much higher than they are right now. And one of the reasons is the traders, they call it the taco trade. You know, the Trump always chickens out. Right. Because they know that at some point the direction of the stock market going down, the direction of oil going up, cost of everything going up as a result of Trump's war of choice will ultimately lead him to back out. The problem, of course, is you can't easily back out of a war in the Middle East. Presidents, many presidents for 50 years have known this, but not Donald Trump. He got us into this thing and you can't just sort of like slowly back out of the saloon and hope that everything will go back to normal.
That's not what's going to happen. So we'll see. I mean, I'm glad that that oil prices are coming down today and that the stock market is doing better today. But I just don't think that this is going to be as easy as Donald Trump would like it to be.
Yeah. You know, if only there was governor, if only there was some sort of deal that was in place at one point to keep Iran in check, you know, it would have been all right. But that guy who tore it up is obviously Donald Trump. And now all we have seen is prices go through the roof. And I know, Governor, and I'm sure you're seeing this everywhere in Illinois.

You know, all this guy has done has is raise prices on the American public since day one, which he said on day one he would lower costs. Right.
Exactly. And by the way, whatever you may think about Joe Biden, costs were coming way down under Joe Biden in the last year. But, you know, he lost the election. Donald Trump said he was going to lower, he was going to eliminate inflation day one. And you've seen exactly the opposite. Everything, tariffs, right? The cost of oil, gas prices, everything, everything has gone up. And you go to the grocery store, beer costs more, you know, tomatoes, lettuce, everything at the grocery store costs more. Donald Trump has done so much damage to this economy. And now oil prices, which, you know, normalized for everybody should be, let's say, $70, $65, $70, are now at $95. And that's come down from $115 just yesterday.
So we'll see what happens. But it's damaging to working families across the United States.
Yeah. And tell us a little bit, because I know you've talked a lot about tariffs and how they've affected the people in Illinois. But I would just love to hear from you, because obviously, like, I think it's something what something like seven every every American is owed like seventeen hundred dollars from these tariffs. So tell me, what is the effect been on the economy and the people in Illinois with these these these tariffs, which are essentially just a back at backwards way of taxing people?
100% what you just said is true, that he has raised taxes $1,700 per family. I mean, he owes that back to people. The Supreme Court ruled that the tariffs are unconstitutional. So he's been collecting them for the last year. He needs to send them back to people. He not only is refusing to do that, but the Congress also is his Congress is refusing to to even give the money back to the businesses that are claiming damage because of these tariffs. So, look, it has affected everybody's lives. These tariffs are they are taxes.
