Can you hear me?
Loud and clear.
Okay. All the cameras in medical are rolling, for all the good they're doing. They're still blacked out from all the fungal matter.
Telemetry is stable across the board. We're locked and loaded, Doc. After you. Okay. We're starting our approach. Just got to the berry. Pulling away a small section of the plating. Extending the collection arm. Hold up. I'm getting some elevation in temperature. Also getting some audio. It's coming from the med lab itself. Turn it up so we can all hear it.
What is it? What are you guys hearing?
Quiet.
Get out of there. Now.

Chapter 2: What heartfelt conversation do Burt and Jacob share?
As far as the art metaphor goes, wiping out that much of your work feels like an awful big waste of paper.
While I'm willing to entertain the occult angle, my instincts still lean towards something coming from beyond the world, not beneath it. If I'm forced to throw in with the lunatic fringe, I'd rather side with the part at least facing the right direction, even if it's stumbling forward with its eyes shut. That said...
If this so-called purity fire actually does something, well, there's a reason people say there are no atheists in foxholes.
I think this is most of the stuff on the list. Let's just hope they can build a decent bomb out of this stuff. You really think some bomb is going to stop what's out there? I mean, come on, Bert. You were right there next to me. A few explosions ain't even going to tickle what we heard. To be honest, I'm trying not to think about it.
The scientists seem to think those underwater machines are somehow to blame for all this. Now, they explained it a bit, and I suppose it must make some kind of sense, or they wouldn't be wasting their big brains on it. But I'll be damned if I made heads or tails of it. I guess the important thing is that the captain went along with it. I know you got a thing for her, but she wasn't there.
She got no idea what we're up against. Then what exactly do you recommend, eh? Because from where I'm standing, we ain't got a hell of a lot of options. I don't know, but blaming machines and building bombs sure as shit don't feel like much of a plan. This thing ain't of the world. No bomb's gonna do shit to it. So, uh, you, uh, you got any religion?
I was raised Catholic, but now, now I don't know. It's been an awfully long time since I could scrape together anything that looks like faith. I've never seen anything that make me think there's a God. But the devil? Him I believe in. Seen plenty of him over the years. I suppose I can't help but to agree with you.
All the fucked up shit I've seen, friends I've buried along the way, can't rightly say it wasn't the devil's doing. That'd be a good time to think about retirement. Once you've been through some shit out here, well, kinda hard to go back. At least, not all the way. Anyway, let's lock this all up. Don't need someone coming in here and fucking with it. I'm afraid there's no going back.
For any of you. What the hell are you- Jacob!

Chapter 3: How does the crew manage to pass the time amidst the tension?
And the pit has gazed back. Farewell. Jacob, is that you? So I heard all of it. I know what he is. Where it comes from. It's too much, Bert. It's all too much. Just... Just hold on.
I'll... Call for help.
No! I don't want any help. I don't want to live like this. I can't. It's inside me now. You gotta kill me, Bert. It's the only way. Jacob, you're not well. You've got to get a hold of yourself. This is Bert. This is anyone. No! Here. Take this. And stand. But don't worry. There's no sin in killing me. I'm not one of them. I'll go up. I'm sure of it. I know I will. Please, Bert. Just kill me.
Please. Hurry up. Hurry! Oh, get that away from me. I'm... I'm not killing you. No! Why'd you have to do that?
Chapter 4: What unsettling sounds are heard from the med lab?
You gotta get a hold of yourself. You're gonna have to do it the hard way. Put the fucking knife down, Jacob. Don't make me have to hurt you to get you to do it, Bert. Because I will if I have to. Don't do it, Jacob. Please.
Then fucking kill me! Oh, God.
Bert! Are you okay?
I'm... I'm pretty busted up. But I'll live.
What the hell happened? He didn't give me any choice. He was going to stab you.
I think he was already dead.
Why was he trying to kill you?
It wasn't him. It was the creature. He took over Jacob so it could destroy the staff. The stuff we were gonna use to blow up the machines.
The creature?

Chapter 5: What insights do the characters gain about the Black Aether?
What kind of readings? Tom said the entire area looked different. Like it wasn't even the same place anymore. Sounds like some kind of equipment screw-up.
The guys disappearing, Avery running around with no insides, the weird black fungus garden out there, and the storm that doesn't seem to want to end? They sure as shit aren't equipment failures.
No storm can go on forever. So once it stops, and whether or not they can get the ship up and running again, we either sail out of here or we call for a lift. Either way, we'll be gone. In the meantime, we stick together and stay frosty. Simple as that. Now, are you betting or not? Great, now what? This is Mick. Anyone there? Great, more fucking interference from God knows what.
Christ, I'll be glad to be out of here. Right. Looks like the power's about to go. Again. I brought a battery-powered lantern, just in case.
Eh, I'm out of here in a few anyway. It's my rotation on security. You don't have to make do with Anderson's money after he takes my place.
And there goes the power. Figures. I know how much was in the pot, so now one better get any ideas. Break out that lantern. I can hear Malcolm's pockets bulging.
Are you kidding me? The lantern's bugging out too?
It's gotta be that EM field the eggheads are always on about.
That ain't all it's gotta be. Everyone packing?
