Okay, everybody out! Secure the raft and let's get going!
Grab your packs and make sure everything's secure, especially the extra torches. We lose those and we're as good as fucked. I'm gonna double check our headings before we head out. We'll be walking blind and our compasses might start playing tricks this close to magnetic north. Everyone stay close and keep a close eye on the guy next to you. Just takes one wrong step to get lost in this shite.
Rope lines are down but we should run into the poles they were tied to soon enough. We'll take another reading once we see them. Alright, let's get to it. Liz, keep checking the radio. Maybe we'll manage to get through to them. Will do.
Glorious, come in. This is Valiant. Anyone there?
Nothing. Just static. Figured. But it doesn't hurt to try. Mark, there's something up ahead. Looks like something's buried in the snow. Terry, give me a hand. You got it. The rest of you, keep your eyes peeled.
Fuck.
Is that what I think it is? What's wrong up there? What is it? A body. One of the crewmen from the Boreas.

Chapter 2: How do Captain Vera and Burt plan to search for the missing scientists?
The Man of Sins was likely sent to us because the creature believes us to be its most significant obstacle.
You geniuses think you can level with the rank and file and tell us what the hell that thing was? Save it with the geniuses bullshit, will ya? We came here to do a job, same as you. We've got nothing to do with any of this. You said the thing that's causing all this was hiding inside that fucking monolith. The monolith, might I remind you, you were also gung-ho on digging out of the ice.
Give me a fucking break with the, you scientists are dabbling with things that should be left alone schtick. How many other monoliths do you know of that harbour demons from hell? Nobody had a clue what we were getting into. Now why don't you save the blame game crap and try being part of the solution and not a pain in my ass.
Is that what that thing was? A demon? Maybe. But who the hell even knows what that means?
You're real fucking helpful, lady. Hey, watch it, pal. You keep talking to my wife like that, and the next thing that comes out of your mouth is gonna be your teeth. And just who do you think is gonna... Dallas!
That's enough, Jesus Christ. We've got enough problems without you trying to play alpha dog. We don't know what that thing is. All we've managed to piece together is that some of what we've been seeing aligns pretty well with an ancient mythology. Or one so old it may even predate Mesopotamia itself.
So what do you propose we do, Balin? We need to get aboard the Valiant. From there, with the right equipment, we might have a chance of putting an end to the machines the creature uses to affect the weather, among other things.
The machines you guys found in the underwater temple?
The same.

Chapter 3: What unexpected discovery do the team members make in the snow?
could very well be something we may never truly understand. This thing's technology is clearly eons beyond anything our minds are capable of processing.
Considering that Miles managed to stun one of its pet monsters with one of the fire extinguishers, not to mention rattle its teeth with the thing, and that Darrow evidently slipped from its grasp, I'd say its plans are still vulnerable to human intelligence, if not outright ingenuity.
I suppose you might be right... But that also means the Thing will likely play things a lot closer to the chest from now on. I still don't get the association of demons with some kind of advanced technology.
Maybe the Thing belongs in a different category entirely.
If we adhere to the most basic ideas concerning hell, then demons are fallen angels, vastly superhuman agents of a divine power. If human beings create technology as a product of their intellect, I suppose angels, now demons, would be capable of the same thing, just on a much larger level of accomplishment.
There's certainly no shortage of ancient literature describing divine beings using what almost sounds like incredibly advanced forms of technology. Take the Indian epic, the Mahabharata, for example. In it, the gods wield celestial weapons, like the Brahmastra and the Brahmashirsha Astra, weapons described as so devastating they could scorch the earth and wipe out entire armies.
And then there's all the strange depictions of angels in ancient religious texts, which actually sound pretty mechanical. Beings made of spinning wheels, blazing lights, metallic forms, and bizarre structures that sound more like machines than anything human. We can use the word demon to describe this thing, but we may not understand what that even means.
Hold on. Dallas is signaling to us to roar down the window.
Zack just caught a glimpse of something through the thermals. Couldn't make it out, but I don't know what the hell else would be out here but that thing.

Chapter 4: What is revealed about the body found by the team?
Aside from the absence of people, I'm not seeing anything.
Is anyone here? That's Bert Sharstein. We're here to help.
That's not encouraging.
Come on. Let's head to the control room first. Well done. I heard someone. Me too. We hear you. Where are you?
Place.
Came from down there. Okay, folks. Let's go.
I... I can't see. It came from around that corner, up there.
We're round in the corner. Be ready for anything. Jesus Christ! What the fuck is that? Keep it together!
It's the fungal growth that overtook the Ned Bay. Looks like it continued to grow.

Chapter 5: How do the characters react to the potential danger they face?
Alright. Let's take a quick peek. Just stay as far away from that fungal shit as you can. There's no telling what it might do to you. We're... We're not really sticking around, are we? This is too fucked up. We need to get the hell out of here. Shit, look over there. Good merciful Christ.
What?
Right here. I can see you.
Perf, throw out another flare. You've got to be fucking kidding me. There's just hearts of them. That... that bungled matter. It's growing into them.
Tearing away from the wall! I can see you.
But I can smell you. I can see you all. Open fire! Fire! Behind us! There's more of them! Get behind me! What are you doing? Wasting a shit-ton of good whiskey! Blocking the way out!
Come on! This way! This way!
The strongest shit is lining the entire hallway. Do we really want to risk going through there? No. No, we don't. Let's try going through the lounge, not the windows. You got it. Let's look. Gonna have to do this the hard way. Well, that did it. Let's go.
Shit's completely covering the windows!
