I know we've kind of fallen off the wagon a little bit with the vacation baby, but I was like, you know, last major of the year, we got Rory and Scotty, the betting favorites. Let's just dive in. Uh, actually watched the week before when we were in a fourth of July, peaked at the John Deere for sure as well. So, uh, I love watching golf. It's kind of crazy. This will be nine years since he won his last major. I mean, at the time he won that. I remember being at my cousin Kenny's house in Fresno. And remember, Spieth pumped one into a concession stand and had one of the all-time up-and-downs from there. It's when he pointed at Greller. It was a pretty iconic moment for a pretty iconic career up to that point. And it looked like this guy was going to become... I don't know, kind of what Rory has become. Just a guy that was going to win six, seven majors, kind of the next Tiger Woods, and that was kind of the end of it, which is crazy to look back and think about. He won that tournament. He beat Kuchar, who for a split second looked like he was going to win it by three shots.
I think third place, he cleared by six shots. So this guy fucking blasted the field, and that feels like a lifetime ago. You know, what's funny is since having a kid, like I'll think about like something that happened to me two years ago. I'm like, that feels like 10 years ago. I think about something 10 years ago. That feels like seven decades ago. And Speece dominance on the PGA Tour, just like where you went into majors thinking like Jordan Speece is going to win. Jordan Speece is going to be in the mix. feels like a long, long time. That nine years feels more like 25. So, like, coming into this, by all accounts, listen to some of the no-laying-up guys talking to people, boots on the ground, that, you know, listen, I...
This course, if the wind doesn't pump, and as of right now, it doesn't look like the wind is going to pump that hard relative. I was watching the Genesis, I think on Saturday. We were lounging around the couch early in the morning having some coffee, and it looked miserable. They had a fog delay. Maybe that was Friday. And I was like, God, that's so cool over there. And my wife looks at me, and she's watched a lot of golf since I've come into her life. She's like, that doesn't look fun. I'm like, this is overseas, Ireland, Scotland, the UK. This is their version of golf. This is their version of beautiful. That's that. And a huge part of Lynx Golf overseas is, is the elements. And if the wind doesn't pump, and the no-lane-up guys were saying that the place is fast and firm, so that brings shorter hitters into it.
When the wind pumps, that brings variables into it. You don't need to be... It's like Bryson DeChambeau, I would hammer him to miss the cut. I would expect, which is kind of crazy, if Bryson misses this cut, he will have missed all four major cuts. When the year started, it was like... Back before Piff backed out, I was like, Bryson wants $500 million. And obviously he's still valuable, but you're missing every cut.
