What challenges do the Celtics face after missing out on Giannis?
NBA draft tonight. Massive NBA trade yesterday right after our show. We are live. I'm in Chicago. J-Mac's back in L.A. It's the Herd. All right. So we talked about it. I mean, we've been talking about it for three years. Three years ago, I'm like, they better move off Giannis. He's a big, he's going to age. Longer you wait, the less you get. And Milwaukee got a bunch of people you've never watched, or they're still in college, maybe in high school. But regardless, the Miami Heat, and I'm hearing all the critics. Yeah, does it make them better?
How does Miami's new lineup compare to previous seasons?
Yeah, they finished 10th in the East. Go look to Vegas if you think they're not better. Listen, the Miami Heat have really smart people. The owner, the GM, Spoh, Pat Riley. Like, they got smart people. To me, what Miami did getting Giannis, as they moved up now to fifth NBA title odds, okay, they're in that space now, and I agree with this, is that this is a two-level trade. The big picture is, and all Pat Riley and Spoh want, they want titles, right? They're not playing to win the East is now with Bama to buy you Giannis and Bobby Portis. That is the best defensive front line in the NBA that matches up with Wemby for about the next two to three years. And you say, well, what about the East? Well, what about it?
Last nine years, you have seven champions. You take your chances in the East. I mean, Miami years ago made the final. They were like an eight seed.
What are the potential weaknesses in the Heat's roster after the trade?
Indiana got there. Did you predict the Knicks? If they can keep Norman Powell and he signs a decent deal, Wiggins and Norman Powell can shoot. Everybody says, well, they don't have a lot of shooters. Well, it wasn't just Tyler Hero last year that generated all the offense. Miami scored all sorts of points last year. Miami averaged 120 points last year per game and was 10th in the East because they couldn't make enough stops.
