Welcome back to another episode of the Lovable Reunion Podcast. This week's episode, we are joined by 2016 World Series MVP, Ben Zobrist. Benny, when you hear World Series MVP, how does that make you feel 10 years later? I still don't believe it sometimes. You know, when you're sitting amongst the company of the guys that we had on our team, you know, and Anthony Rizzo himself. That's how I feel every day. It's like I'm in awe. I get to still work with him. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're just kind of, you know, just riding coattails to championships. That's what we do. That's what I do. You guys, that's my life. I was like, hey, Lester and Lackey got me two rings. You know, I just follow those guys around a little bit.
Does it feel like 10 years to you? Can you believe it's been that fast? In some ways, it feels like a... a few lifetimes have happened, you know, but then obviously like when we got together, I think it felt like, man, that was just like yesterday. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Isn't it crazy? We get together and it feels like we're just going to go into another playoff series. It's been 10 years. Yeah. That's, I think that's how special our team was. Our group was, um, Ben, Ben's nickname in the, at least within the Cubs organization became Benny provost. Because he's such a professional, and he was so professional in every single thing that you did. And I don't know if you realize how much that taught younger guys, and even veteran guys on our team, how professional you were with your routine.
Well... I mean, by the time I met you guys, I mean, I had been in the league almost as much time as you guys had, you know? So, I mean, maybe, what, 10 years at that point? Or close to 10 years? And so, I mean, you have to have a routine, right? You were, what, three or four years in? to your big league time in 16. So you knew your routine, but you're always looking to get better, right? I think you have to always look around. And I do think during my career, I was trying to pick things from every teammate that I really respect. I was like, what does that guy do that I really...
