And as I mentioned, we've been here many, many days in a row and we're hitting the home stretch. And Josh Heinz Allen talked yesterday, he said, while we are in the home stretch, it's not time to ease off.
Yeah, I'm ready to I'm ready to go. And you can just tell by just by today being like a little draw through practice or it's like we need to fine tune everything. Like everything needs to look like how it's gonna look week one. Like all the little little communication errors that, you know, if we don't make it, it's like that's over with. It's time to lock in and it's time to get this thing going. So yeah, it's ready.
Friend, we're nearing the home stretch, but it's not time to ease off. They gotta get ready for week one of the season.
Yeah, really, it's a tale of two teams right now. You've got the veteran guys like Josh, who are just about to start ramping up and getting their regular season preparation underway. But you've got guys like Brian Thomas Jr., Brian with a Y, the pass rusher, who I just talked to on the practice field. They're ramping into their final opportunity to find a way to make this football team, their final impression. So it's an interesting sort of dichotomy as you come out of training camp, but you also have these guys who are still clinging to their last few days of training camp. You could tell on the on the practice field on the walkthrough this morning that these guys are nervous might not be the right word, but really feel
Feeling the pressure to make their last few days, perhaps in a Jaguars uniform count. Duff, when you talk about training camp ending for guys. They feel it 'cause their football career could be ending.
Oh there's no question about it. And I I've been impressed with the focus and the energy that these guys that are trying to make the team are demonstrating. And they're getting a great opportunity here because they're playing these preseason games. They're not only uh showing up for the Jaguars, but they're showing their wares for the rest of the NFL. So they they want to take advantage of every snap and that's a great attitude.
They've been working at Akai for their entire football lives, and for some they know this might be the end.
Absolutely. Let's talk a little bit about our second big fig, which is cleanup. When we talk about a preseason game, we're gonna recap uh game number two, that was last Friday, but not a ton of highlights from that one. Duff, when I'm talking about that game, I'm really thinking about cleaning up the penalties and not making those kinds of mistakes.
Oh you're a hundred percent r correct, Kai. That was the issue. I mean we had I think five penalties on offense, three on defense, one on special teams. So we got to get that fixed and they will. They have a major focus focus on that. And the other thing I think we gotta start fast. You know, we've started slow in both preseason games. Now I realize this is our lot of our backups that are playing in fact. In the Carolina game, we played against their first offense and first defense, which was great exposure for our team. But again, we gotta start faster. I know coach has been beating a drum on that and I the team will respond to that.

How difficult is it to start fast and to play without the mistakes and turnovers when the lineup changes, you know, it's seemingly play by play. Different guys are in there trying to get different situations and It just seems like the preseason, especially the second half of a preseason game, is set up to be a bit of a Fire drill.
Yeah, no, it's it's it's tough sledding for the coaches, it's tough sledding for the players players, the units all all together. But again, execution is the name of the game. And and you want to see good execution, you want to demand they're demanding that here, and the players will respond to that.
