Oh, it wasn't too toasty in Denver, but unfortunately the Jaguars did not get a win on the road in week two. Welcome in. I'm Kanani Stevens for Jaguars Happy R presented by Jet Home Loans. A lot to talk about today. We're in the Hyundai Studios coming up, presented by Deep Eddie Vodka, handcrafted with real fruit, proud partner of the Jacksonville Jaguars. There was a letdown at Mile High. It was a game last year that we felt like was a statement win for this team, and we know they can win out. There, but they weren't able to get it done. And a lot of it was just seemed like things were out of sync. Nothing quite came together. The first half was a little tough, and then the second half, they really couldn't get anything going.
We will keep it real with you as we talk about the defensive substitutions and what they're kind of working at. Also, what's going on with Travis Hunter? And we will answer your fan questions because there were a lot of them after this game, and rightfully so. So I'm gonna welcome in former Jaguar. First offense event Austin Lane. Pete Prisco is with us as well, CBS senior sports writer. And Jaguars got out to an early lead, couldn't quite close things off. And Pete, what was the tape looking like for you? I can't imagine that was a very fun rewatch.
Well, the offensive line had a rough call there. I mean, uh a week ago they were good. This week they were bad. If you had to sum that up as a group, they were bad. And particularly bad was the right guard, Ezra Cleveland was not very good. I thought the center was average at best. Uh the left guard struggled you know for the first time. He he made a couple of good blocks, but he also struggled a little bit. And Van Landen wasn't as good. So um as a whole, I was disappointed in the offensive line. Um, I think defensively, where is the pressure? And I know Boat Nicks gets the ball out quick, but you got it, you got two high price defensive ends. Those guys gotta start getting to the quarterback. And we'll talk more about that.
But I think as a whole, Couple of things bothered me. The offensive line bothered me. The fact that Tutin still doesn't get enough carries bothers me. And why you know, they went to they went to Rodriguez on the goal line after he ran down there. Now somebody had mentioned maybe there was some cramping or something. Who knows? But but he was in the next play. So Uh and then the defensive line, you gotta get home. You gotta get home.
Austin, what were the big problem areas for you?
Well, obviously, you know, being a defensive lineman myself, um, that's where you start, right? And i if you go back to that game, sixteen of the seventeen passes that Bo Nicks threw where the Jaguars rushed four or less. That's not good. That's th that's not getting home, right? And and I remember in the past we talk about okay, well they didn't get interior pressure, they didn't get outside pressure. So you have to manufacture stuff with blitzes and everything. Well going sixteen for seventeen with rushing four or less, like that And I understand, like, okay, it it's not the Cleveland offensive line, right? It it's not a makeshift offensive line featuring five new players, like these Broncos that they played together before, right?
So you expected them to be better. But at the same time, you have two bookends at your disposal in Trayvon Walker and Josh Ions Allen. Right. You you have Eric Armstead now who, um, by all indications is back at full strength. Right. And, you know, the Devon Hamilton's more of that run guy, but you also have the depth purposes where it's like you can bring guys in for that interior pressure as well. You didn't really see a lot of it yesterday. And and that's where it starts.
