Yeah, it definitely does. Uh we had a team meeting this morning and seemed like everybody was Kind of chopping at the bit, ready to go. Um Yeah so much of training camp is going against yourselves. You mix it in with the joints, which is great. Um and and that simulated work that we got of the joints gives you some some glimpse and obviously competing against other teams and uh quality opponents and so it just becomes more real absolutely the the message this morning was um you know using all of this week like using this bonus week to our advantage knowing what the weather is gonna be like possibly on sunday and and working through it we're practicing a little later now in the week and so those guys have to continue to adjust to those things and

Um, I thought them the mood in the in the room was good and they were they seemed pretty excited to get going.

And you rolled out the the captain announcement uh a little bit earlier this morning. Can you talk a little bit about those guys and just kind of what their leadership means to the team?

Liam Coen 1:12

Yeah, I think it was a representation of um look, we had a ton of guys on this team get get votes and get uh a decent amount of votes. It wasn't just like the one or two that you get. quality human beings and and and people that were uh in the mix to become captains. Um, you know, felt like the additions of Jacoby Myers and and Ross really gave us um, you know, two new two new guys that weren't on the crew last year and Um they're pretty obvious as to w what their impact and influence has been on this team. Uh especially Ross with I think he is really um ascending as a leader on this team. Um I think he's he's really I mean look, you three time pro bowler. the that speaks for itself, but I I think his maturity, presence, um, accountability in there as well I think will really help.

Um Logan and Cam and those guys as they lead that special teams unit. And um think Jacoby, we all saw what what he did. I mean I uh it wasn't like he was a captain last year but he may have well may as well have been one in terms of the his impact and influence on our team and I think Trevor Haynesy Josh Foyer and Jay Lou those guys have continued to ascend in the in the uh leadership category but We had a lot of guys that we could have named captains. So it's a a good group. We'll continue to do the uh game captains every week. Um and just to continue uh the development of our leadership group.

Hey coach, uh just with the captain stuff still, in terms of Trevor Lawrence, obviously quarterback is usually uh named a captain, it seems like kind of automatically. Uh just in the last calendar year though, what have you seen out of Trevor just to really put in your mind that this guy definitely deserves to be a captain?

Yeah, I think you look at obviously the consistency towards the back half of the year in his play. But also having a You know, I I think if you're a teammate of Trevor and you see what he's gone through to get to where he's at, it hasn't just been like this smooth, straight line. So the guy has uh You know, adver like he's dealt with some stuff, right? He's dealt with some highs, some lows, um, some adversity in his career, injuries, whatever it is, and and come out on the other side of things and um, you know, needs to go and prove it again, right? Continue to prove what he wants to be in this league in terms of a consistent competitor. But I think his teammates, um I've just seen uh the the ownership obviously of the offense.

And and the entire offense sees that. I mean, he got every single vote on the offensive side of the ball. So um that's something that I think like you mentioned, sometimes organically occurs from the quarterback position. But when you get every single vote on the on the offense, it it's kind of telling that um the guys look to him uh and and he has a way of doing it. Like I think he's taken more guys by uh on the side at times throughout this off season, maybe than he did in a year ago, right?
