Yeah, yeah, that old chestnut of world news. Well, in the land of like not super important news, but still stuff that people click on en masse, this story erupts and it's Amanda Seyfried. Now she is in, I guess she's in kind of, they're calling it an arthouse film. Like it's an indie film.
It's called The Testament of Anne Lee and it's about the founding member of the Shakers, like religious sect. So she plays this woman and there is a very nude scene that occurs at the end of the movie and she's standing in front of a burning building, completely naked. And in order to cover up her, let's say her front parts, she is sporting a Merkin.
And we've heard about Merkins in pop culture this year because Kim Kardashian created a line of Merkin thongs for her Skims underwear and it sold out in like 30 seconds. That's just like a wig for your private parts, which is great. Love it.

Fantastic. It's a pubic wig. I do remember when Kim Kardashian launched that line. I think we talked about it. We did talk about it. But back to this movie called The Testament of Anne Lee with Amanda Seyfried. Yeah. So she's got the merkin in the front and in the back she says, you can't see my butthole in the scene, but I swear to God there is a prosthetic butthole there.
Like just in case they needed to make sure that this was completely covered up. And I love thinking about this being someone's job to make the prosthetic butthole to ensure that it fits for her. And then she has to wear it in front of a burning building. I'm surprised she did that.
I'm actually, I don't know why, but the movie No Hard Feelings with Jennifer Lawrence, where Jennifer Lawrence is completely naked. Running around. And gets in a fight on the beach, like a fist fight with these people on the beach. I don't think she wore any prosthetics, any kind of like body doubles or anything. She had a lot of courage.
I'm not saying if you wear one of these things, you don't have courage. I'm just saying if you don't wear them, it takes a lot of courage. Yeah. I'm reminded of that scene. Did you see that scene? I haven't seen that scene. I think my husband's seen it 400 times. Oh, it's not. The funniest thing about the scene is it's not sexy at all. It's just hilarious and out there.
And it's like so non-sexual. Like Jennifer Lawrence is a little drunk, her character. And she's very angry. And she beats up some teenagers on a beach fully naked. It is very funny. And just so it's so like whiplash, I guess, is what you get from it. Mm-hmm. But what's the world saying? What are the people saying about Amanda and this prosthetic butthole?
I hope we got all these bleeps is the question. I know you're going to have to really like be quite cautious on the bleep machine today for the show. But I think a lot of people in Hollywood are not freaking out about this. They kind of just think it's a funny part of their jobs nowadays. The general public is finding this to be hilarious. The concept of having a prosthetic butthole
is very, very funny to people. They love the story. They love thinking that it happened in the midst of like a serious arthouse film. And I really like it because I think that more people need to sort of like pull back the curtain on thinking that you're seeing an actor or actress naked, although the Jennifer Lawrence thing derails my theory a bit.
But I think about the movie that was about Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson, like the actress in that and the actor in that, they just wear prosthetics. You think you're seeing a big old... You're not. It's just a prosthetic. She wore a chest plate. So it's like a topless scene. It's an interesting workaround.
Like if you were an actor or an actress that did not want to appear fully nude in films, but they said, OK, well, we'll just make you a naked bodysuit, then fine. Like, what's the difference? But the audience is still conceptualizing you as nude. I don't really see the difference, but I guess people are entitled to their body privacy in a way that doesn't make sense to me. That's fine.
