What is the premise of the Dragon Empire campaign and who is the GM?

Mike Shea 0:00
Hey friends, it's your pal Mike Shea from Sly Fleursh here with another episode of Sly Fleurge's Lazy GM Prep. In this weekly show, I go through steps from Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master while preparing for my Sunday role-playing game. In this case, I am running a game, uh, a Tales of the Valiant game set in the world of Midgard, all by Cobalt Press. Cobalt Press makes Tales of the Valiant, a their flavor of fifth of 5e, and they make Midgard. The campaign is Is a homebrew campaign set in the Dragon Empire, the Marathi region of Midgard, uh known as the Dragon Empire. This show, like all of the work of Sly Flourish, is brought to you by the patrons of Sly Flourish. Patrons get access to all kinds of tips, tricks, tools, scenarios, all sorts of things to help you run your games.

Uh, hero tier subscribers get access to an entire separate podcast, weekly podcast called Readings and Reflections. All paid tiers get access to Our awesome Discord community. Again, Hero Tears get access to things like previews of upcoming events, a campaign source book I'm in the middle of working on called Blood of the Primordials. You can see that over there. All kinds of stuff you get for being patrons of Sly Fleurish. And of course, uh thank you to the patrons of Slyflurish for your outstanding support. LashMarack is dead. And so are two of the characters. So it was an event. I uh it's so I've I've been kind of miscommunicating this to folks in my group and they're like, Are we done? And I was like, not quite.
Mike Shea 1:25
I think that the battle against Lashmarak, Lashmarak is one of the nine Morza. It is the first time that they killed a Morza. And uh the Morza, the nine Morza are the nine dragon emperors over the dragon empire, right? They're the nine dragons. So at this point, the pact is broken, and that's because two of the nine dragons are dead. One of them was killed by another group, one of them was killed by the characters. So there are now only seven Morza remaining. And um, you know, for me, this battle was like the the great the The the the big battle of the campaign. I think that the campaign is going to continue on. We still have other things to do, but the likelihood that they're going to be in another battle that was like this, that was handled the same way, uh, I think is unlikely.
Mike Shea 2:13
And that's because I think that the killing of Lashmarak has is is going to start a chain reaction that is going to take down the Empire. Right? I think I think this was their major. major victory. There are other things they can do to kind of keep kicking it along and make sure that it that it goes the way they want it to go. Uh but at this point the Empire is broken. And they don't even know it yet. And the Empire doesn't even know it yet. Um, so what happened? They uh they they started out at the beginning uh with how do we get through the sundered tower? We know that on the other sundered tower, Lashmarack is working on something. Um they their their friendly anthropologist told them so. And they kind tried to BS their way past the guards by flashing a Lashmarack badge.
Mike Shea 3:01
They're like, We have This badge of Lash Marak that we got from killing one of her agents. Why don't we just show it to the guards and be like, hey, we're her agents and we need to go and show up? And so there are two priests and four of these massive giant guards. And they um they flashed the badge. The guards are mindless brutes, right? They didn't know what's going on. But the priests looked at it and they were talking to each other, they were talking looking at them and talking to each other. And uh, I wanted to kind of handle it like the scene in Conan the Barbarian where he flashes the jade symbol and they're like, We haven't used the you know, and he's like, This will get me access, right? And and they look at it and like, this is gonna get you killed is what it's gonna get ya.
Mike Shea 3:40
Like, you know, there's only one of these and we know it was stolen and we know who it was stolen from. So they knew everything, right? Like it was a bad move. Conan handing over the Jade statue was a bad move.
