What is the premise of the Dragon Empire campaign and how many sessions have been played?

Hey friends, it's your pal Mike Shafe from Sly Flourish here with another another episode of Sly Flourish's Lazy GM Prep. In this weekly show, we go through steps from Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master and Rise of the Lazy Game Master while preparing for my Sunday role-playing game. In this case, we are running a high-level Tales of the Valiant campaign set in the Dragon Empire of the Midgard setting. So Midgard is Cobalt Press, Tales of the Valiant is Cobalt Press, and we've been, I think we're like Closing in on 80 sessions of this game. It has been a long campaign, and I can honestly say one of my favorite campaigns I've ever run. I really, really, really love this campaign. It has been really fun.

This show, like all of the work of Sly Flourish, is brought to you by the patrons of Sly Fleurish. Patrons get access to all kinds of tips, tricks, and tools for helping you run your role-playing game. You get access to our awesome, awesome lazy GM community over on Discord and Hero to your Patreon. Patrons get access to an entire separate podcast called Readings and Reflections, where I read each of my articles aloud and do a little bit of commentary on them. They also get access to upcoming products, upcoming initiatives that I have. They got to see Rise of the Lazy Game Master significantly early while I was working on it. And now they are getting to see another campaign setting I'm working on called Blood of the Primordials.

So patrons get access to all kinds of that stuff like that, uh, to the patrons of Slight Flourish. Thank you so much for your outstanding support. So last week was a big week. It was really fun. We started off with like a big fight against these um death golems. You know, the characters did not have too hard a time. So the characters are breaking into the vault of Lash Marack. Uh they had killed Lashmarack, one of the Morza, what probably the most powerful Morza. Uh although I don't know, I think Adasha, Adisha might end up. I've got an idea for Adisha, and I have a feeling Adasha might be tougher. Uh so the characters killed Lashmarak, an ancient red uh dragon archmage, and were uh sneaking around in her town, in her city, her secret city where she her secret city where she laired, and trying to break into her vault.

And they had two purposes. One is shatter the device called the flail that prevented teleportation and scrying so that they could teleport out. And then two, um, to break into her treasure vault or at least one of her treasure vaults and steal what they could. And they did. Uh they they they accomplished both of these. It actually took three teleportations to gather all the gold that they had, but it was like I think it was it was in the millions of gold. It was lots and lots and lots of gold. And they brought all the gold back to their so they fought the death golems, uh, you know, strong start fighting death golems, and then a uh and then the breaking of the vault and all that. So about half the session was them kind of getting this stuff together and breaking out of the vault.

And then the second half was the big council, right? Big council meeting with their with their friends and what they're gonna do next. And that was really fun too, because they're watching the Empire crumble. Like they're literally sitting there, you know. Hanging out while the empire is beginning to crumble around them and then figuring out like what are we going to do to shove this into the right place so that it what the way that the empire falls is the way that we want it to fall. And uh I thought it was, even though it was like, you know, an hour and a half of a big conversation, I think people really enjoyed that conversation. And part of the reason I think they enjoyed it was because of the decisions that they could make and the choices that they could make.
Mike Shea 3:14
that had absolute impact on the campaign, right? And and were huge. Like they were a bit like which one of the other Moors are we going after? Are we gonna go after any of them? Are we gonna go kill the dread sultan, um, you know, the the dread sultan and put the Sultana back on the throne?
