What is the opening premise and who are the contestants on MeatEater Trivia?
This is an IHR podcast. Guaranteed human. Meat eater and best-selling author Brian Burrow present Gunfighters, a new podcast series about the American West and the violence that made its most legendary figures infamous.
Davis Tutt staggered forward, shouted, Boys, I'm killed, and keeled over dead.
Listen to Gunfighters starting on September 15th on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
It's me the podcast.
Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where conservation always wins. There is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winner's choosing. I'm your host, Spencer Newarth, and today we're joined by Seth, Logan, Sarah, Alyssa, John, and Jen Pearson. This is a 10-round quiz show with questions from Meat Eater's Four Verticals, which are hunching, which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking. Meat Eater Trivia is brought to you by one of my favorite beers, Bush Light. Bushlight, head for the mountains. All right, Jen, first time on the show. Tell folks what you do here at MeD Eater.
I am the events and marketing operations coordinator.
Yeah. Anytime you go to a really cool media event and everything uh seems like it's it's running smooth and nothing is on fire. That's thanks to Jen.
That's the hope. Yeah.
Does it just feel like that? That you're just trying to not have things on fire for these events.
Yes, and a lot of cat herding.
Yeah. A lot of cat herding with our crew.
Uh
Jen, what are gonna be your strengths and weaknesses at meat eater trivia? Hunting, fishing, conservation, cooking.
I feel like mostly weaknesses.
Okay.
Why does the crew debate the proper way to dispose of sardine cans in the office?
No strengths then.
I don't know. We'll see. Maybe we'll surprise it, but there's a reason why this is my first time. All
right. We'll find out how Jen does. Okay, we're starting today's show with a question for the crew. If you have a question you want the crew to answer, then send your question with a subject line mailbag to trivia at the meadeater.com. Uh this is a good one. It's from Clayton. He says I love sardines. The girls I work with, however, hate sardines. Specifically, they hate the smell when I eat them and apparently hate the smell that is left over when I put the empty can in our shared kitchen trash. I've tried to be reasonable. I've started rinsing the can out thoroughly before throwing it away, but apparently that isn't good enough. They could still smell it and would let me know they were displeased. So lately I've been gathering up all of my sardine evidence can, packaging, napkins, whatever, and carrying it outside to the dumpster.
This feels like a lot of effort, especially considering I am the executive director. At some point, should the executive director be allowed to throw a sardine can in the office trash? Am I bending over backwards for my coworkers? Should I go back to throwing my thoroughly rinsed sardine cans? In the shared kitchen trash or have I created a precedent That I now have to live with. What are our thoughts for Clayton?
I hate the smell of sardines,
but
that is excessive. I feel like those people need to learn how to live with some discomfort in the workplace. Like that's
a little extreme. I love Tin fish of all forms. I do think that when you're entering into an office environment, you're subscribing to a different social contract than the one that is at your house. Microwaving fish. Smelly stuff in the trash can. Like wrench 'em out. Have some have some community minded behavior in your workplace. I think
what
other thoughts for
Yeah, but
like how how fragile are you that you can't m like have some sort of minor discomfort for like some bad smells. I mean,
would you stick like a salmon flay into the microwave upstairs?
No, but that's like That's intentionally I don't know, like it it's him consuming sardines and then putting the trash in the garbage. Like, I don't know. Like I that just seems excessive that he needs to like Rinse it and you know. Seth, what do you think?
I don't know, I'd love to know the office setup. Like these people have doors to their offices that they can just shut the door.
