Last night, officials in Mississippi announcing that a grand jury unanimously voted against bringing a criminal charge of any kind over the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells. The black teenager found dead after a 4th of July trip with friends to Horn Island off of Mississippi's Gulf Coast. The grand jury writing in its report that, quote, the position of, the condition of, time of discovery and location of Mr. Wells' body is consistent with drowning. If you read the whole report, it is a total exoneration of his friends. The Jackson County District Attorney went further, saying, quote, there is absolutely no evidence to support the allegations that Nolan's disappearance and death were racially motivated.
This means all the racially charged rhetoric in this case that we have heard. And boy, have we heard it from the likes of Benjamin Crump, Al Sharpton, Sonny Hostin and more was based on nothing. It was invented to stir up racial hatred. Nolan Wells's death was a tragedy, but he was not murdered by his white friends or apparently anyone else. And those friends should never have had to deal with the attacks and threats that came with the totally irresponsible speculation that we have seen in this case. It's been disgusting. So Bart got dragged into this simply because when the one boat that brought Nolan to Horn Island and then returned, Nolan said, I don't want to go back with you. I want to stay at the island for a bit longer. So his buddies got back on the boat, started traveling back to the mainland. Their boat had problems, started taking on water. And Bart, who was in a different boat, did nothing more than boat over to the distressed boat to help his buddies get out of a jam, which he did. That was it. That was enough for some so-called influencers online to start accusing him of murder. So just before we get to the breaking news, can you put in perspective what this insanity has done to Bart and his other friends?
Yeah, I mean, I think it's created an incredibly hostile environment towards him. I mean, he's a college student. He's a football player on a college football team trying candidly to earn his way into the NFL and has got aspirations to do that. And I think this has turned his life upside down. It's turned his family's life upside down. You've got a situation where they've been subject to two very credible death threats.
