Not like the time when there's songs of Innocence turned up on your computer because it was in iTunes. No, not that kind of out of nowhere. It's a brand new record. And they launched it, they've got a new song, and I've gotta say, having not really been a fan of U2's more recent stuff over the last little while, I really like this new single.
Who knew? It's fabulous. Anyway, we'll get to that. As well, Taylor Swift has released a deluxe edition of her record that came out last year, The Life of a Showgirl. And that release has given us a new single as well, Patient Zero. And of course, with the release of it, there were records broken. I'll let you know what they are. But also the response has been lukewarm at best. But I will also get to that. Now apologies if I sound a bit stuffed up. I actually am. I I'm fighting off a cold post book tour. Which was great. Wound up last week at the Petersham Bowls Club. If you are a Sydney person, And you want a lovely place to go to, Petersham Bowles was just absolutely delightful. And that was the last date of my book tour.

But I'm really pleased it seems to be connecting out there, which is lovely. Over the weekend we had the various football and rugby grand finals. I've completely opted out of those worlds these days. However, I did tune in for the Kylie Minogue sports concert that she did. Essentially the only reason for me to watch the grand final at this point. Not that I'm not into footy, it's I I think I'm just done with it. Done with the the culture of it. Promising to change, promising to get better. And it just never seems to. So yeah, I could do without it, but I did tune in for the Kylie gig, twenty minutes of Kylie Minogue prematch entertainment, and my goodness, it was phenomenal. I loved it. I absolutely loved it.
And it seems like everyone did too. Which is great because with these things they can go either way. They can look quite bad for television if they're not staged right, but this seemed to be staged quite simply, so it translated quite well. And it felt like a homecoming of sorts. I I I mean, I don't know.

Maybe it's not a big deal for someone like Kylie Minogue. But she seemed really into it and she was saying things like Footy, I'm home, which was pretty. Pretty cute. did all the hits and even did a bit of pink activity up in the sky on the zip line, which was terrifying to be honest, as I was watching it. I was looking at her little hand hanging on to the side and trying not to look stressed, I imagine, trying to look like she was cool with it. But I imagine that would be quite Terrified. You know. And you know the zip line I'm talking about, the one that goes up across the top of the playing field where they usually have cameras actually shooting. the field from above. So terrifying it would be if you're scared of heights like me, but she did it well.
As I said, all the hits. Highlights for me personally though was Kylie singing Confide in Me, which I'm not sure was a big hit elsewhere, but in Australia I remember it was played an awful, awful lot here on Triple J. It was definitely a big hit. And it was beautiful to hear her singing that with William Barton on guitar.
