Oh, man, I'm still tripping out about it, to be honest. Like, I didn't come home with the actual bouts itself, so it's still like making sense of it all. Yeah, it still doesn't feel real. And when you get home and the first thing you're doing is milking cows and feeding the pigs. It's like, oh, did I even leave? It's so good.

How does it feel to be a world champion?

Obviously, she was hospitalized after taking it on a stretcher, which is unfortunate, but apparently she's okay now. What was that moment like in your head for that moment where you were like, holy heck, I've just won.
I've won the belt. It literally was that. I shocked myself. I think, you know, I shocked the world, but I definitely shocked myself. Going into that fight, I had a strong feeling that I was going to win. I don't know, I just felt like this was my chance and this was my moment and I just had a real strong sense that I was going to win. It was the stoppage that got me. Yeah, we're so proud of you.
Now, your name, The Smiling Assassin, how did that all come about?
So one of my workmates, when I was working with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Community Service in Whangarei, I lined up my first professional fight and the promoter asked me for a fight name. And I was like, well, I don't know. I just want to fight. And I just asked my colleagues and that was what one of them gave back to me. And I was like, oh, yeah, that's a pretty cool name. I thought it was quite cheesy to begin with, but over time I've kind of grown into it.

You've had, obviously there's a hell of a story and a background story like there always is for everybody, but, you know, you didn't get it the first time you tried round and now you get this success, which makes it maybe even sweeter. The story of how the people in your team, you know, like I know, we all know, but I know Daniela Dandy, your coach. Yeah. She's an absolute legend. And to have someone like her, a former world champion herself, in your corner, giving you that sort of pep talk. People like Shane Cameron helping you out with equipment. Like, this is a real case and example of the village, eh, coming together to help create the champion.
Definitely. Definitely. I couldn't have done it without their support. I would have probably had a try.

I would have tried, but definitely makes the journey that much easier, better. And having that support, it gives you that boost, like, wow, they're supporting me. I think I'm cooler than I really am.
No, you're cool. How did the journey all come about for you, for those that don't know? How did it all begin, and did you see yourself getting to this point?
