It's this is very true. But, you know, if I'm trying to take my game to that next level, man, I'm not trying to pull my my three iron out and drive every single time. I would like to get that driver going on some of those long par four, some of those par fives, get my chance a better shot at a birdie, better shot at a consistent par so I tend to leave the driver in the bag, but I don't want to be six three, you know, two hundred and twenty pounds and I'm leaving my driver in the bag. With that being said, what was it like for you in New York when the Jets advanced the back-to-back AFC championship games in 2009 and 10?
Uh it was like a dream, you know, realistically. I'm coming from a situation in Cleveland where I never made the playoffs. We won ten games one year, still didn't make the playoffs that year. Rich in insert former Jets coach Eric Mangini into a situation that just it seemed abysmal. You know, that's what I felt about Cleveland.
What was it like winning back‑to‑back AFC Championship games in 2009‑10?
Kind of felt like, and this is the old NFL. My contract, my rookie contract was seven years, option after six. So I'm like, there's just no light at the end of the tunnel. Fast forward, I get traded. We make it to the AFC Championship in 2009. We reload in the offseason, you know, bring in Ladania, we bring in Brianny Pooh, we bring in Antonio Camardi, and now we go back to the AFC Championship, beating Tom Brady, the number one seed to get there. Like that run was magical. Like I'll never forget when we beat the Patriots. And no, this is the first year. When we beat the Chargers, and then we came. back, we flew back and they took us around Manhattan and you see that the Empire State Build was lit up green and white for us.
You know, this is it's not the Jets town. You know, it's not the the the Nets town, you know, it's not the Islanders town. It very much belongs to the Giants, the Knicks, you know, and the Rangers. So to see that green and white, to see what that was, you know, little old us, you know, it showed me that the city actually cared. about that franchise and they wanted to see their team, you know, get all the way. So I can only imagine what a team that they've been clamoring for, clamoring for to get back to this dance and win it since nineteen seventy three, the New York Knickerbockers, I can only imagine the energy.
