Jets. Uh, I would say for me um it's been a great experience. Um Like a dream come true for to win a national championship and uh to be in the NFL. Um, it's been a great experience. All I can ask for.
Um, just based off piggybacking off what he said, kinda just great experience. Like you said, dream come true, playing in that championship. But then um also just being able to uh be teamed up with D Lo again is also something that I was really grateful for 'cause I felt like and I also told a lot of the scouts and coaches when I was going around that he helped me become a better receiver. So being able to go against him still Um, at practice and continue to just grow to grow that way. Um, I feel like that helps me just continue to grow as a receiver and a player.
So you get drafted Thursday night, number thirty overall. What was your Friday like? And you talk about D Lo getting drafted. in round two, number fifty overall. What's the timetable like and how were you able to hear about him joining you?
Uh so I had caught a flight here early in the morning and then my family and everybody came with me. So we walking around, meeting everybody. I had came like literally the week before. So I was just doing it again, but with my family this time, and now I'm knowing I'm on the team. Uh, but just talking to all the all the coaches, uh shrimp staff, everybody that they have involved that's gonna be involved with me while I'm here. And then I had a meet with A G and my family. And after that meeting I was like, So what we thinkin'? I was like, So w what y'all thinking for this our first second round pick? And then he was like he was like, It's either uh we thinking either old lineman or a D B He's like, I like your guy, D Angelo Pons.
He was like, kinda remind me of myself. And I was like, Yeah, go get him. And so it was it was crazy to actually see it happen.
Uh D Lo. So round one happens. Your reaction when Omar gets taken number thirty overall and Tell me about the process you going to bed that night entering round two.
Yeah. Um I feel like I star I started uh watching towards the middle of round one. So um I kinda I I kinda got a glimpse of Fernando and then in the middle of round one I just uh started watching again. Um to to see Omar go thirty. Um it was just uh it was just uh something I text him right away actually. I was excited for him and uh I actually it was just like um I ha I knew I had a chance to team up with 'em 'cause I knew they had the first pick of the second round. Um so I was like, um maybe this thing could happen, but um but it was just uh I was just happy for 'em overall and um this next day I um woke up just knowing I was gonna get picked. Um it was just exciting, honestly.
And you both had draft gatherings, right? You were down um in Atlanta and you were down there in South Florida, right? So how big were your parties?
How did the NFL draft process unfold for Omar (30th overall) and D'Angelo (2nd round) and what were their reactions?
My party was uh pretty big. I I would say it was probably like thirty to forty people. Okay. So yeah. Uh how about

How tight were you guys at IU? Yeah obviously you played the last two years together. You experienced a lot of success. Can you speak about that dynamic that you're an elite D B. He's an elite receiver. You're competing against each other, but you're also teammates.
Yeah. I would say our whole team was tight. Uh not just us. I feel like um like you said, we're both elite players. So obviously we're competing against each other. Like I don't like to see him out there. He don't like to see me out there. But off the field we're we're all close. We were all close at Indiana.
