My family, my loves, my wife Jessica, kids Alex and Danny, Jack, George, Gabby, and Izzy, my parents, Joe and Ellen McCarthy, my sisters, Kelly and Colleen, and the crew that's here. We can finally openly wear our Steelers swag, so let's get it. My heart is full, my focus is Singler, and it's time to bring another championship back to this great city.
With that, I just want to make sure that when we do get that trophy, you know, the seventh trophy in the case, we'll start that victory parade at 1137 Greenfoot Avenue.
Incredible. And very authentic. Did he win you over yesterday? That's the question. That part of it for me was so honest and real. I was like, oh, my God. I mean, how can you look at this and think anything but this is amazing? But then a little bit of reality sets in with, wait a second, are they bringing back Aaron Rodgers?
We just had Mark Caballi say that he thinks it's close to a lock in his opinion. He didn't say it was hard and fast information. And by the end of it, it was like confirmed what I thought right when they made the hire, Bob, is that they just hired Mike Tomlin to continue what they've been doing. Art doesn't think this has been that bad.
Well, he's not happy that they get bombarded in the playoffs.
I know that. He doesn't want that to happen. Sure, but he said at his news conference after Tomlin, we're in contention every year. And my answer to that would be contention for what?

Chapter 2: Did Mike McCarthy win over the fans during his news conference?
I love it.
Yes.
What do you got?
So anyway, initially... I hated the hire. Like, absolutely hated it. Wanted one of the Rams guys, but as the hiring cycle's been going on, I think the NFL's telling us what it feels about these Rams guys. Shula, maybe not as impressive, and then Sheilhaus, maybe not as ready with the experience.
So, I've been starting to come around on this, and I think, and Kaboom was there, but maybe he'd be able to answer, but With the potential of Andy Weidel leaving, and you know Tomlin and Weidel were the football guys, do you think they went this route with McCarthy being with all of his experience?
Because Ben said it last night, him and Charlie, when Tomlin got hired, he came into perfect infrastructure. The assistants were there, the players were there, the quarterback was there. This team doesn't have nearly any of that. Yeah, they're going to say Rodgers, but we all know that's going to be short-term anyway. So I'm starting to come around on this.
You know, look at the other hires, like who, who else like excites you? Maybe mentor, maybe, uh, maybe happily, but those seem like they were predetermined before they even accepted their job.
You know, that's good. You think that way. I don't know. All I know is that I thought those two guys were going to get jobs. Now it looks like even though they're still too open, they're not going to be those people. Maybe they're just not ready.
I mean, Shula had a lot of people in his corner thinking he was going to be the guy just because I think more so than anything else, the Steelers have always gone in that direction. It's always been three hires, young up-and-coming coordinators, defensive-minded. And then you can go from there. They've changed course, and I think with good reason to.

Chapter 3: What are the reactions to Jim Schwartz wanting to leave Cleveland?
He went to Philly and looked better, but he looked pretty good here.
You can do both if you can play. Right. So, I mean, that's a name I would love to see. It may never happen. I don't know what kind of relationship he has with Schwartz, but... You know, he's been around for a long time and he's been a head coach. He's got a lot of experience.
If we're looking for experience in somebody who's done it, and again, the motivational factor of doing it against Cleveland twice a year.
Well, Bob, I would hope he would be motivated 1,000% regardless, but you might be right about that. Well, doesn't that add a little bit? He would have the knowledge of Cleveland for sure. He would have a lot of things that I think would make him an attractive hire. But most of all, he's a very good coach. That's it. That's it. Chapter 4: How does the hiring of Adam Henry impact the Steelers' offensive strategy?
Limits, you're at an F plus on the hire. If I told you that Schwartz and Sheilhas were the coordinators, what would the letter grade be?
I'd move up to a B. Wow. Did you hear that, Bob? I would move up to a B because I think that... Schwartz is that good of a defensive coordinator where he can legitimately... Look what he did with the Browns. I know they're talented, but they won five games this year. It's not because of that offense that they won five games this year. I give Schwartz credit for at least four.
of the five because of the way that he was able to construct and run that defense. And Chilhouse, I still think could be a coach-in-waiting type. Now, I don't think he would end up getting the job somebody else would hire him before the Steelers would, but it would definitely intrigue me a lot more than what they have now, yeah. Bob, would those be your two preferred choices?
Well, yes, except I don't think ā because Mike McCarthy has such a control of the offense, I don't know what Sheilhaus ā I mean, he can design things. They could utilize it. I'd like to see him call plays, too, if he's on the hot track.
Maybe he would start to get a little bit of that at some point.
Maybe not in the first year, but maybe down the road. Not in the first year, yeah. He'd be an apprentice. He's young enough where you could bring him in on that. And I would ā yeah, I'd like that. But I don't know if that's going to happen. I think there's more chance that maybe Schwartz ā Although I got to tell you, these other teams could use Schwartz.
He's going to have no shortage of people trying to get him, I bet. Man, I'll say.
All right. Who's next, O Limitless Wonder? Here is Ross. He's in Cannonsburg. Or should I call you City Sweeper? Hello, Ross.
Hey, guys. Hey, guys. Thanks for taking my call. Love the show. Love all the interaction between the three of you. Wanted to talk about Bill Belichick being looked over this year. One thing that you cannot dispute is his record. His record is unbelievable in Super Bowls. However, there's something as far as I'm concerned.

Chapter 5: What are the expectations for Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers' future?
You liked him, Bob?
I did. But I also, I mean, he treated me a nice way. I can only go by how people treat you. I'm not going to, if I hear other stories, fine, that's your story. That's not my story. I mean, the day that he and Leland got into it, I had him on live at our news for seven minutes right from his condo that same night. Barry Bonds. I think you told me this story.
So you just went to the condo cold and knocked on the door? I had to go through a whole litany of exchanging with his agent.
With no cell phones and no texting. With no cell phones.
We had to go through fax machines. I remember going to a couple of hotels.

Chapter 6: How does Bill Belichick's Hall of Fame candidacy reflect on his legacy?
I had to borrow a fax machine to send because his representative wanted to, you know, okay, tell me how you're going to approach this, which I did. And he was pretty cool about it. They didn't change much. He said what he said, and that was that.
Did Barry know that already the PR was very bad for him? Yes. When he got to his condo? Yes. Did he invite you in for a drink?
No.
Food? Chips.
He did have chips. He had them laying around. I ate them.
I don't know if I was supposed to eat them, but I ate them. That's fascinating, the whole thing, to show up at his. What kind of mood was he in? Was he still hyped up?
Yeah, I mean, he was. I can't remember. You're asking me a mood question. I just know that he wanted to address because he felt like Leland made such a big deal that day of that incident, which I applaud Leland for. And I think he wanted just to explain his side of it. And he did, but it wasn't adequate enough for me, at least.
I remember thinking, man, you need to be more transparent here and take more ownership of what you just said. But whatever, he was good enough to do it. And that's not the reason I would vote for him. It would be just what I saw. I saw everything that came with that. You don't think baseball made out on that?
And Carlos Beltran gets in. Right.
