I'm as Canadian as it gets. I'm not Canadian, but I'm pretty Canadian. My mother's side of the family, great-grandmother, she lived in Sherbrooke, died in Sherbrooke. Summers and Ayers, Cliff, Magog, Albert Mines, Moe's River, Milby. Roos's Point, if you get lost on the way back. I make my Toronto jokes. Some of those Raptors fans, I'll hate you forever, but that's not fair to all of Toronto. Maybe some of the surrounding areas, because if the business is true and you left your moms in the hood, somebody go smoke that ute. So I'll never necessarily get over that. I remember going back to 1996 Team USA playing Canada in the World Cup of Hockey, I believe. We were over at Berkey's, Howe, Sloat, Berker. I had a bunch of the hockey guys over. We were, what, 21, 22? They were like 24.
But yeah, some of the NHL guys, Timmy, Saint, Juice. sorgi whatever we're sitting there with all these canadian dudes some of those guys are american that i just named i just like saying hockey names and we're watching look we didn't care about the result of that game 48 hours before it we probably forgot didn't care about the result of that game 24 hours later maybe six hours later but we sat in a big room we watched the game we cheered like american idiots you know maybe we played free bird it was kind of fun seeing people dress up like ben franklin all the music and all that stuff you know america fuck yeah but Um, these guys were devastated. I mean, these guys were really bummed out. All right. And I think one of the smart ass guys, the American guys from our group was like, dude, Canada, there's nothing to pay. There's tons of great things about Canada guys. Don't worry about it. A lot of great exports. Some terrific products. No reason to hang your hat. It's just a game, guys. It's just a game.
Meanwhile, pouring it on, realizing none of us really cared as much. However, I think a lot of us cared last night. So I don't think it's fair to do that to Canada by saying, well, it's not even really a sport that we care about. Because we cared. I cared. I was rooting for Team USA. Binnington standing on his head in the beginning of that overtime. Looked like Team USA was going to pull it off. I'm not the trained hockey eye that you're going to. Defenseman, maybe defensively. Team America, goaltender Team America, forwards always a little behind Canada, but is the gap that big anymore? I don't know. But I understand what this means to that country, especially with my background.
