I am good, Tony. How are you doing?
Very well, thank you. And I know you know this gentleman well. He does color on Montreal Canadiens hockey games on TSN Radio in Montreal. John Goyens, how are you?
I'm good yourself, Craig. I appreciate the floral polo once again.
The whole key is to keep the focus off my face and it continues to work.
There you have it. You guys go back a while, huh?
How can the Canadiens adjust to Carolina's playing style?
Yeah, yeah, we do. John's been a longtime coach in Quebec, coaching in the Quebec League, coaching with the Lac-Saint-Louis Lions. Just go look at the number of players that John has coached that ended up in the National Hockey League. Worked with the St. Louis Blues this past year, doing some good work for them. Bright guy.
And no doubt about it. Craig... We knew that Carolina was going to impose their will. We knew that they were going to get more shots than the Montreal Canadiens. We knew that they were going to get more scoring chances. Did we expect the Canadians to generate a total of 25 shots in the last two games?
No. And you know, one of the things we have to keep in mind is, is that the Carolina hurricanes, you know, they pride themselves on shot volume and it's how they, uh, how they work off the shot volume that works for their game. So, you know, you gotta be careful in terms of how you evaluate that shot volume and what it means for me right now, the Montreal Canadians, uh, are not getting quality chances and they're getting too few quality chances. You think about the breakaway in overtime or the three-quarter breakaway. Matheson hits the post in the third period. The Canadians are close, but it's far and few between. And I think that that's probably got to be the number one focus for Montreal, how to generate more chances, quality chances there.
against the Carolina Hurricanes because we can sit here and I can talk about volume and how Carolina don't make too big of a deal out of it. But the big deal I will make is that Montreal is not getting enough chances. They've got to find a way to do a better job in that regard.
John, the players have been asked about in their, you know, even when they had 12 shots, they're like, no, no, no.
