It's great to be with you, Jim. And who are we speaking with this week?
Yeah, we have a great guest, uh Katie Prajon McGrady. And uh I'm really excited to have her on the show for a number of reasons. Maggie, can you tell us a little bit about uh Katie?
Yeah, so Katie Prajan McGrady is an award-winning Catholic author, speaker, and host of the Katie McGrady show on Sirius XM's The Catholic Channel, where every day from 7:30 to 10 AM, Katie tackles pop culture, current events, Catholic news, and how to live a life of abundant joy. With several years of experience working in youth ministry and high school education, Katie is a sought-after voice in Catholic media and the author of several books, including Room 24, Adventures of a New Evangelist, and Follow, Your Lifelong Adventure with Jesus. Katie and her husband Tommy are the hosts of Family Mass Prep on Hallow, a weekly podcast for families to get ready to hear and pray with the Sunday Mass readings.
So, Jim, why did you want to have Katie pray John McGrady on the spiritual life?
Yeah, for about a million reasons. Um, first of all, uh as you said, uh she really is a great Catholic evangelizer. She's just a great voice, you know, in terms of the way she presents the faith, which I really liked. Uh she's a mother, right? And so there's that aspect of a motherhood, and she talks about that in our uh conversation. Uh and also, you know, and during a laugh, and I say this on the podcast, she's a podcaster. And so she knows how to do podcasts. And she is just really adept at uh fielding questions and conversations. So our listeners will not be disappointed. She's really an expert communicator, I would say, overall.
Yeah. And I think, you know, when you say that she is a a professional podcaster, I think what we mean by that is that um not only is she able to kind of plumb her own spiritual depths, but she's able to retrieve some nuggets for the rest of us in a really pithy, concise way. So that takes skill.
I'm really excited. And it was such a lively and uh easy conversation to have.

I am so well. I you are I was telling someone you are kind of my dream guest.
I'm I'm delighted by that.
And I'll tell you why, because you're a podcaster and you know how podcasts work and you have your own equipment and everything's great. I'm gonna ask you, you told me this story, um, which I had forgotten uh when we were uh preparing. Can you t uh tell people about the first time we met?
Yes, you were keynoting LA Congress Oh, this was pre-COVID. I mean, it was a long time ago. I was walking down the hallway to the Speaker's Lounge and you were coming out, which for anyone who's been to LA Congress knows that Speaker's Lounge is like tucked in the corner. It's this little hovel with some snacks, way crowded.
