What happened in the opening of the 2026 NFL Draft and why was it surprising?
Okay, so hello everyone, um Welcome, welcome back to the Bath Toad channel. It's been a fat minute, and l let's just get right into it because what a what a beautiful day today always is. April twenty-third, two thousand and twenty-six. The first round of the NFL draft took place. It's over, it's all concluded. You know, it it was it was a lot of ups and downs, I I guess. It was it was actually a really surprising first couple of um first couple of picks. Really didn't Um, expect a lot of it, obviously after the first overall pick, sorry, but just crazy night of sports, lot lot going on for me today. Busy, busy day. I fucking was ca ca came back. to my house at like four fifty PM. I was really tired. A lot of driving today.
NFL draft goes down, the fucking Knicks lose. I've got the Timberwolves game on right now. H th they're winning by twenty at this point. But anyways, sorry, don't need to be talking about basketball right now because Listen, okay, so I can I do my like honorary Raiders talk first of all, 'cause like I I don't know, I wanted to I I did think about streaming, first of all, on the main channel, but um I just kinda uh my members saw my post, but I was basically like, Look, I probably just gonna wanna watch it with my family, so I ended up doing that for the most part, but Also at the same time it's like what was there to like sh sh show and react to with Fernando Mendoza? We we know we've been knowing he's been on our team since we lost that Giants game.
And I just I don't know, I I was just I just had moments today where I was just like, Man, thank thank God. Thank thank fucking God that we lost to the Giants, man. God bless Max Crosby for sitting that game out, bro. I mean What will we do without him? And without this pick, but Yeah. So we took Mendoza, man. I mean I w what more can I even say at this point? Um I guess I'll kinda just go through and like grading every single team's pick in a in a in a more broad sense, but I'm more just gonna be yapping in general. So yeah, man, I mean He's he's the quarterback for the future. We got Kirk Cousins. He's gonna be he's gonna be playing some some football at some point this year, I would I would imagine. Kirk Cousins is gonna be doing that, hopefully.
But yeah, mina Mendoza's basically just gonna sit out probably until like week fucking eleven or until Kirk Cousins, you know, tears his penis, which will probably happen. But yeah Happy about it. Well what more can I say, man? It's a good feeling. It's a good feeling to see that see that name pop up on the board. And then after Mendoza sorry, just gonna shit gonna plug in plug in my phone. But so after Mendoza, things got a little bit interesting because at number two It's actually funny. I I don't even wanna like give myself credit for this, but um So the consensus number two overall pick for the for the Jets was pretty likely to be let's I'm just looking at like how everyone had everything graded out here.
If you look at all these um overall Consensus, overall consensus for all sorts of um different types of o outlets that did mock drafts, Arvell Reese was pretty easily the second overall pick. Now I don't know what the fuck is going on here with Mendoza. Some someone's Who Who the fuck is Reed and why did he have him going six? I don't know. He had us taking uh I whatever. Anyways, the point is Arvell Reese was likely to be the pick for the New York Jets. Like i if if you had to put money on who they would take, you would you would put money on Arvell Reese. Now I did make a TikTok like this morning where I was like, I still did believe that Arvell Reese was probably gonna go number two, but I have agreed with it.
Possibly not. But my my logic and my mindset was kind of that the Jets are in a little bit of a Tough situation because listen, I don't believe in Aaron Glenn as a head coach. I'm sorry. I don't think he's gonna be here at the end of this year. So when you take a raw prospect like Arvell Reese and have multiple different coaches trying to develop him, using him in different ways, I just don't really think that's a good situation.
