Triple M footy lives on, listener. Thanks to McDonald's and Ream Hot Water.
Here we go. We've got a game on our hands. The NRL is on Triple M. How about that? And we've got all the goss. Behind the scenes news on and off the field. From press conferences to inside the locker rooms. I love being a part of it. I'm learning to feel real at the moment. It's a tough game to play. It must be responsibility. A really good chance. On Triple M, this is NRL Daily.
Welcome to Triple M NRL Daily here on your Monday. It's Charlie White here. It's the Players Edition. Two of the absolute greats with me. First of all, Wade Graham. How are you, brother?
Fantastic, Charlie. It's great to have the crew back together. I did a great job last Monday, but you're Graham Trust. Welcome back, Jimmy. How was your trip, mate?
Yeah, really good. Thank you.
What was the significance of the Dragons' win over the Broncos?
Feeling refreshed. Had a great time with some school friends celebrating being 40 together. Landed this morning and straight into it.
No place I'd rather be, Charlie. The best way to do it, just rip straight into it. Keep the energy levels high. Now, you turned 41 in September. You turned 40 last September. Why are you celebrating your 40th birthday in June?
Well, it wasn't specifically for me, but as you know, school year's work, it goes over a year. So collectively speaking, it was agreed that we would go this time of year. If that's okay with you, there were some of the members of the group that weren't 40 yet, still 39. So were they allowed to come or not? I don't know, but we just decided to go when we were going. What is the school year in the UK? September to September. I see, I see. Why did they do that?
Don't know. Summer holidays in June, July, August, wouldn't it be? Correct.
Yeah, there you go.
I don't know if you'd have those whole three months off, but, mate, you left during Origin Week, though, brother.
Origin. I watched it from a bar in Tenerife with no commentary, and it was bloody fantastic. Send-off? I was surprised. I thought a Simbin would have been sufficient. And I think that was... reflected in the fact that the action didn't warrant more than a fine.
Well, no, but... They've changed the rules now. Okay.
So grade two charge would have been two weeks in normal NRL conditions.
Yeah, one week with the guilty plea.
Yes, correct, yeah. But in this situation in rep footy, they've changed it. It has to be a grade three charge to warrant suspensions.
Because of the Tuali incident, they didn't want players... Right. Fair play in rep footy to affect clubs.
How are the Broncos coping during the Origin period?
Yeah, right. Okay, yeah, that's fair. I just...
Well, I think it was a no-win situation, right? Because there would have been a lot of people in the camp of Sendoff and there would have been a lot of people in the camp of Sinbin. So if he just goes to Sinbin, he would have been criticized by the Sendoff camp. And if he went to Sendoff, then the Sinbin camp, I think the one thing that got him into trouble was he just, he didn't attempt to rap. It was just a shoulder charge motion. And then it made the contact. And that's what Ashley Klein saw at the end, active foul play, shoulder charge, direct contact with the head. I'm sending him off.
Well, what I would love to go over and see, because my initial reaction was I've seen worse things this year, not resulting a send off. Now I'd love to go over, not to dissimilar incidences, but, where players have maybe been simbined and have that body of evidence. I don't, and I can't recall any in particular, but I'm sure there'll be a number of fans up there would, you know, do that comparison, which sometimes you're allowed to do sometimes, you know. I just thought it was a big moment in the game of State of Origin, and for me, it didn't warrant a send-off. But again, I could probably understand why it was.
I don't think there's been anything worse in the NRL this season. Okay. Than that one incident. Because if that happened in an NRL game, the way they've been refereeing, it would have been sent off. It would have been sent off 100%. If anything, because of origin, they may look to minimize what actually happens.
