Tony Squires 0:00
Triple M footy lives on, listener. Thanks to McDonald's and Ream Hot Water.
Unknown 0:06
Triple M footy is dialed in for your Saturday Arvo.
David Riccio 0:09
Good to be back on Saturdays with the boys.
Unknown 0:11
Big names. Nathan Hindmarsh, Wade Graham and Dave Riccio. Big opinions. Lomax wouldn't have made a lick of difference to that side.
David Riccio 0:17
I think it's one of the weakest plays in Origin history. It's not a club, it's not mired by more drama.
Unknown 0:21
But not so big on facts.
David Riccio 0:24
Um...
Unknown 0:25
This is the Triple M Footy Saturday Scrum.
Wade Graham 0:29
Thirsty Camel. Camel on down to Thirsty Camel Bottle Shops for unseriously good deals. Drink responsibly.
Unknown 0:36
Here's Tony Squires. So nice to be with you on this Saturday afternoon and terrific to welcome into the show Nathan Hindmarsh, Wade Graham and Dave Ruccio, gentlemen. Welcome aboard. Good to see you again, Wade, after missing you last week.
Wade Graham 0:49
Well, that wasn't my fault, Tony. I was doing the same thing. You'll be attacked straight away.
Unknown 0:54
No defense. Yeah, defense.
Wade Graham 0:56
I wanted defense because I do get a little bit of stick for my flexibility sometimes on a Saturday, but there's only two Saturdays that I have off a year. One's the one where I go away with my wife.
Unknown 1:05
Yes.
Wade Graham 1:05
And the other one's where I go to the Mick Fennin Golf Day. This one was, I was helping Kiri out, who he needs a little bit of help at the moment. He loves shuffling and shifts around.
Unknown 1:13
The hardest working man in showbiz.
Wade Graham 1:14
He's got a lot of fingers in a lot of pies. The magician. But in saying that, having a Saturday off, which was also Anzac Day, I wasn't complaining about it. But it is good to see you and happy Saturday.
Unknown 1:23
No, look, thanks for talking. In fact, you were watching, was it Stanley Cup going on?
Wade Graham 1:27
Yeah, it's the first round of the playoffs and the Habs, which is my wife's team, so therefore I'm forced to support. They're in overtime at the moment, actually. Golden goal. So they're 3-2 up against Tampa Bay Lightning. They win this, they wrap it up. If not, they have to go back to Tampa for a game seven.
Unknown 1:46
My team's out. They're done. Oilers got beaten by the Ducks. Ducks are on the rise.
Wade Graham 1:50
The Anaheim Ducks.
Unknown 1:50
The Anaheim Ducks. I saw the Ducks play over there. Great home ground advantage for the Ducks. They love winning at home this year. Oilers are out again, of course. Anyway, that's the Stanley Cup for you. Good to be here, Tone. Yeah, good to have you as well. Rugby league only for me.
David Riccio 2:05
Rugby league. Right, okay.
Unknown 2:07
And what's going on? Any news, jumping attitude today?
David Riccio 2:10
Where do you want to start, Tone?
Unknown 2:11
Why don't we start with Manly, a little bit of excitement there, isn't it?
David Riccio 2:14
Yeah, this is just developed in the last 40 minutes. Joey Walsh, the 19-year-old, prodigious talent, coming through the system. A lot of Manly fans will be excited by this. He will be starting in the halves tomorrow against the Penrith Panthers, mind you. Nathan Cleary, Walsh versus Cleary. 19-year-old, big challenge. Jamal Fogarty is out with a groin strain. So a really good opportunity for Joey Walsh and Manly fans to see the player. They have a lot of hope and faith. Well, there's so much excitement about him, isn't there? Absolutely.
Unknown 2:43
Have you seen much of him at work?
David Riccio 2:46
Little bits and pieces, yeah. He's... And keeping in mind, he's from a rugby union background. He hasn't played a vast amount of rugby league even as a junior. He's been largely rugby union. One of the main reasons why Anthony Seabold did hold him back, just to continue to build his game in New South Wales Cup. But he gets his chance. Again, we talk about the influence of Kieran Foran. What better mentor to have tomorrow than Kieran Foran for Joey Walsh?
Wade Graham 3:13
Well, I remember speaking to Brett Camorley about Joey Walsh because, you know, I've heard of his name and I've heard about the talent, but that was basically Brett's summation of Joey. He's a talented young playmaker, but he's still learning the game. He's only come across the rugby league after that rugby union background and he's certainly got the skills to transfer across, but he's still learning the ins and outs of rugby league and It's a wonderful opportunity for him against Penner.
