If real people pique your interest, this is the podcast for you. Listen to Therapy Gecko on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Chapter 2: How did filming impact Amanda during a challenging time?
This wasn't that. This was like, I believe it'll happen someday. Let's see. I thought the television part of my life would come way, way later. Like when my kids weren't little, like this is not something I thought I would do. I have like two under two at home, right? That's crazy. So then one day I get a text message, a girl who is in my courses who credits me for her success.
She's an entertainment attorney. And like the way I helped her believe in herself, believe that she was worthy of money and business and life she wanted, like she credits me with who she is today. She got a call from a casting agent that she knows. And they're like, do you know anyone that would want to be on Roundhouse with Beverly Hills? And she's like, one person's coming to mind.
She bought Kyle's house. And the casting agent was like, that's a great connection. Would she do it? And she was like, probably not, but I can... I can text. She texted my friend Kara. She's like, I know someone who knows her. Let me text. Yeah. So Kara, she texts Kara. Kara texts me. I say, no, I don't want to fight with other women on television. Are you nuts?
And then she said, Lauren, that's the entertainment attorney. Lauren says, just get on the phone with her and the casting agent. Like, just do a quick call. I was like, okay.
There it goes.
Yeah. Check the vibes. But it goes so fast from there. You do the phone call. They say, well, let's just shoot like the casting tape. You shoot the casting tape.

Chapter 3: What insights did Amanda gain about her first season on Housewives?
They say, well, why don't you just have a conversation with the showrunner? You have a conversation with the showrunner. You're the text or an email at that point that said, can you come into NBC Universal for a final meeting? Wonderful. And the next thing you know, you're a real housewife in Beverly Hills. It's crazy.
But that whole, like, from the text message to I need a film at Jennifer Tilly's house was like... two and a half weeks. Wow. Yeah. I had a whole different summer planned last summer. We had our beach house in Newport. We were going to spend the whole summer in Newport. I wasn't going to go back to LA at all, all summer. It was like this, it was this dream I had created.
I always had this like manifestation, this like dream of we'll have our summer on Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard or the Hamptons. And I had been to all those places, but that's really hard when you live in LA, right? Yes. But then I discovered.
And packing up your kids and traveling. It's a lot. Totally.
I discovered a little Island in Newport where we now have a home. Like we, I signed a year lease. And so it was the summer of the year lease. Right. And I was like, just not going to leave Newport all summer. And I was like, I'm going to drive back to LA to film. Like God knows how many times a week. Multiple. Right. So I was like, I'm like a little irritated about that.
So there's part of me going, Amanda, this is a unique opportunity. This is something that doesn't happen to everyone. This is something you have been manifesting. You probably wouldn't have picked housewives, but you would have picked. Like, you knew a version of this was going to be in your life. Like, you have to seize the day on it. Like, are you going to say no?
Well, and that's, but I'm also in this stage of life where it's just everything's a yes. Because I'm like, why? This is where I get woo-woo.

Chapter 4: How did Rihanna influence Amanda's decision-making?
I'm like, everything is for a reason. And timing does not happen by mistake. So if something is entering my life and maybe I have another plan, there's a reason why it's happening. And I'm not supposed to go do that other thing that I had planned.
They have theories on this. There's a book on this called... The year of yes? Yeah. There's this theory where see what happens when you just say yes to everything and see what it creates. Like, see what the universe is presenting you. Right. Yeah, no, the people I know who've tried this theory have loved what it created for them.
Well, I know that your experience on Housewives this season was not great.
No.
But we're in a better place now.
What were you saying? Fabulous. Thank you. Tell me why.
It was fabulous because... You definitely rubbed people the wrong way, which is very fun to watch.
Okay, right. Like people... But yeah, like why are they triggered? Like what is happening? Meaning the people in the group.
Yes. I'm kind of off... like the social media of it all. So I don't know what the feedback was from like viewers. I just know what I was watching and I know what I like to watch. And when I'm consuming Bravo, I know why I'm there, which is to have a strong personality, enter the group and have feathers be fucking ruffled. And why is that fun?

Chapter 5: What challenges did Amanda face while filming RHOBH?
And we love to see the, the rise and fall of people. It's, it sounds toxic and it is, it is. It's a very toxic way of thinking. Right. But like, It always comes full circle. So if you were misunderstood by the group this time, I think how wonderful that it happened your first season.
Because there's nowhere to go but up, right? I think it was, yes. I think it was a rough first season that ended on a high note. Yes. I had a great reunion.
The reunion was great.
I felt like there was resolution. Reunion to me felt like I just knew how to exist in that world and still be me. Because here's what I'm thinking at the dinner tables while we were still filming. I'm thinking like, I'm not going to yell at you. I'm not going to cuss you out. I'm not going to get all dysregulated. That's not who I am. So how do I stand up to you while still being me?
Because the way you guys stand up to each other is not making any sense to me. Well, it's just not you.
I'm the type of person... Where I get two finger guns in your face and start going fucking insane.
I'm sure that makes great television.
Blackout. Well, if only it happened just on television. That's just who I am, babe. But I did enjoy watching just... I find also with watching reality TV is how perspective is just the end all be all of most relationships that we form. Something can happen. And the way you look at it or hear it is going to be completely different from the person that you're having the conversation with.
So that dynamic between like you, Dorit, you and Bose, which was crazy. And I want to dive in. There's so much I want to dive. Like my mind is going a million miles an hour. Let's go. I just liked watching you. Thank you. And it's very rare that you can have someone, for me, on TV where you don't get dysregulated, but you still have my attention.

Chapter 6: How did Amanda's past experiences shape her approach to reality TV?
The night in Italy, I call it the ping pong pizza dinner in my head because we're eating pizza and I learned how to play ping pong, meaning energetic ping pong, meaning no matter what you throw at or conversate, whatever, no matter what you throw at me, I'm going to throw it back to you.
Because what was happening at the dinner tables was people were saying shit to me and I was like, I don't care that much about what Dorit thinks of me. I don't know what even to say right now other than I didn't mean to harm you to eat and I want the best for you, which is not good television, right? By that dinner, we were all eating pizza and Bose does the whole, your life is not pure.
You are not being honest about your life or whatever. And I'm like going back and forth with her. By that night, I was like, I can do this. I just say whatever's true, whatever's real and whatever I, I just say whatever I really feel without insulting and yelling and name calling. Cause that will never be me. And that night I was like, okay, I did it.
Like I, I, I found my therapist and Kyle and multiple people were like mentioned this idea of like,
television Amanda like me and Kyle had a conversation where she told me about like TV Kyle handles it a little bit different than Kyle Kyle Kyle Kyle handles it and my therapist was kind of hinting at the same thing like regular you isn't really what is probably going to be the end result here it's going to be a you on TV that is still real and by that night I felt like I got it and so by the reunion I was like
Say anything to me. I'll just tell you what I think about it. It doesn't mean it's true. It doesn't mean it's real. It doesn't mean you can harm me. Right. You know what I mean? Because early in the season, I'm like, are you trying to hurt me? Like, you just met me. What have I done to you? I don't get what we're doing here. By the reunion, I was like, people are going to try to bring up dirt.
That's the show. So ping pong it back. Without, because it'll never be me, without trying to take them down. Totally. Because I just... And it's a fine line. I just can't. I just don't want any... I don't want to see another woman go down because it's something I brought up on a show. I totally get that. That's like not going to be the thing I do.
Who would you say you were... Obviously, you and Bose were not connecting on any level.
You know what's the stupidest thing about that? Like, really annoying is I don't think that's accurate. I think that is almost a result of television. Because the first time I sat down with Bose, it was at lunch with me and Bose and Dorit. And I was encouraging Dorit, right? And like... why no one thinks I'm a financial planner, right?

Chapter 7: What lessons did Amanda learn about manifesting success?
And it's just different.
And I just want to cuddle and have dinner. Exactly.
When you let the worlds bleed into each other, it can become very suffocating.
Yeah.
So back to what your therapist said, and Kyle, when I step into film, I have to do the exact same thing because it's self-preservation. It is not normal to go into a group of women where you guys all have very strong personalities. Yeah. And then you allow a bunch of random people who are watching to then insert their opinion.
No, it's not normal.
You have to have. Totally. Yeah. Like some sort of, you got to become a Sasha Fierce, like Beyonce, Sasha Fierce, right?
All of that you just said true. And then there's so many other layers that like, it's really hard to wrap your head around. There's producers, you know, whispering things into people's ear. Like I'm not even saying in a manipulative way, just in like keeping storylines moving forward. Like remember how you felt when you saw Dorit last might be said to you.
Remember you said this and she said this might be said to you as you're walking into like

Chapter 8: How does Amanda view her relationship with money and business?
How could you not be hanging on by a thread?
And it's just the timing of it, right? Like I go talk to the psychic. I headed off with the psychic, Angie. She's, I still know her. She's wonderful. I headed off with the psychic. I asked her if she's getting anything for me about Zion. I think maybe there's a chance. There's a message, right? Like, wouldn't that be beautiful? Nothing comes through. So I'm crying.
And then I go cry in the bathroom. And then I dry my tears. I sit at the table. The second I sit down, Dorit is like, Amanda, like I. And so when I'm saying to her, it's not a good day. I cannot even wrap my head around what you're saying. It's because I couldn't even wrap my head around what she was saying. Like, I need a beat. Let's table it.
right because listen had I formed some really strong opinion about Dorit and her ex and whatever and it was an opinion I was holding or whatever I probably would have been prepared to talk about it but I didn't remember saying anything bad about her so then I spent the whole rest of the season worried that I said something horrible about Dorit at Kathy's house that I'm not remembering right and now the fans are going to see what I actually said and then I watched the scene at Kathy's and I didn't say anything when
When the show started airing, did you... I remembered it right. I remembered it perfectly right.
That is the worst feeling where you're like, I feel like I'm being gaslighted. And then you start questioning.
I feel crazy.
Did I say something? Now I'm worried. But do you know what I love?
What? The flashbacks. Now I feel great. Well, now that we had that situation at Kathy's with Dorit, and then there was one thing with Rachel, and I guess like three things with Bose between like the mask and the, I'd lose money on my course, whatever. And then the mom comment. The mom thing. By the time we got through the reunion, I was like, Amanda Francis, you remembered everything, right?
