Hello everybody and welcome back to Vassals of Kingsgrave for a uh special TV edition. Uh we'll be covering the HBO series The Pit. Uh it's a medical drama. That's been very popular the last couple of years, uh, featuring Noah Wiley, who was on ER. Um and it's a very interesting format that we're going to get into. Uh my name is Adam. I'm also known as Drown Snow on the the Discord and the internet. And I'm joined by Kevin, Uncle Kevin. Kevin and but and Kevin, both you and I are uh are medical professionals. So we have a little bit of a little bit of background knowledge watching this show. Um, which is maybe why the show kind of resonates with us a bit more. Uh, 'cause a lot of medical traumas are honestly hard for us to watch, as I'm sure you you can attest to.
Um, so uh what why don't we tell everybody real quick, uh we'll do our uh our background just kind of what our what our jobs are and then we can give our uh Our lemon cakes or our uh You know. Heart attack ratings or whatever we wanna whatever we wanna give it um for this season. We'll we'll mostly be covering season two. But we'll we'll probably talk a little about season one and just the the show and the cast in general. Yeah. So what why don't you start us off?
Yeah, so I am an ICU nurse. Um for a little over a year. Went back to school in twenty twenty three. Um and then Started out in the ICU, so um I work far away from the Riffraff of the Emergency Department.
How do Adam and Kevin describe their medical backgrounds and rate Season 1 vs. Season 2?
Um You know, I wear my Patagonia vest and Um, you know, things go down, but in a more controlled environment. Uh so The pit stresses me out. In terms of just how sidetracked and pulled every direction everyone gets. Not that that doesn't happen other places in the hospital, but Uh, you know, the A D is very fast, like transaction after transaction, sort of sort of medical care. Um, and then just in terms of my relationship to the show, I watched The first season probably five times. Like I loved it. It was a very like Comfort show for the most part, other than maybe the last couple episodes that got real intense like Um, I generally liked the first season a lot. Uh second season was good. I'm gonna say it's like
It's like um If the first season was a four point eight or something. Um I'm gonna say Delaudits. Uh Yeah. Don't come for my nursing license. Uh If the first show if uh the first season was like four point eight, I would say this was like three point five. Like Um, just wasn't as crazy about the second season and Um I know you mentioned like being able to watch other things. I generally am not all that bothered if things are medically inaccurate. You know, I watch plenty of shows that like don't accurately portray the subject. the proposed subject, but like The reality is Usually they're more about the characters and their interactions with each other. So it doesn't really bother me that much. And the second season was definitely not as accurate as the first.
Um, but I just generally wasn't
as big a fan of how the story played out compared to the first season. Okay, yeah, fair enough. Um
I I think I would probably land in the same space. Like the first season would be like a like a four point five, you know, like a f you know, right in that range, um, out of five, you know, like uh code blues for me. Um But um I think the the second season was like a Mostly just because the way the story played out was a little bit a little bit of a downgrade, but I still really enjoyed all the characters. Um I really enjoy what they're doing. Um I work in the OR. Um I'm a certified surgical first assistant, which no one knows what that is, but basically uh I'm the the guy that stands on the other side of the doctor during surgery. I'm his extra pair of hands. Um I help him, you know, sometimes I'll help him cut you open.
I sew you up at the end. Um, clean you up and get you ready to leave. Basically, whatever the doctor needs during surgery. I fulfilled the same role as a physician's assistant inside the OR, basically.
