What did Bina007 and Bing discuss in the opening of the R32 roundup?
Hey everyone, welcome to the second Vassals of Kingsgrave Soccercast twenty six episode. My name's Bean A Double O Seven and I'm joined by Bing.
Hello, this is Bing.
And we are gonna run through very quickly the round of thirty-two matches. And we've already had a couple of round sixteen because this thing's relentless, but maybe look forward to the round of sixteen and give you, well, mostly Bing's thoughts and my dumbass questions. So thank you for joining. And that's power on. And we're gonna do this um in the order they appear on my World Cup planner. So we're gonna do the left hand side of the draw and then the right hand side of the draw. So not in the order played, but overall, Bing, how do you feel about the round of 32? How do you feel about the flow of games and how they've gone?
Uh there's been a lot of really, really good games, um, including one that we'll definitely talk about later on. That's probably the match of, I don't know, the last. Several World Cups. Um, and then there's a few that's just um they happened. The games happened. You might as well.
And I mean to to fast forward to that game, I was so kind of down on broadening the teams who would be in this World Cup. But thank god they did because it's thrown up some phenomenal draws, including that absolutely phenomenal match. So um we'll get into it. But going in order, left-hand side of the draw, we start with um Germany versus Paraguay, which went to penalties, one all in full time, three four in pens, and Paraguay went through. I think a lot of Schadenfreude from England fans. see you've always lost to Germany. How do you feel? How do you feel about this result, my friend?
Uh we can talk about Paraguay a little bit later because they just played last night and things happened.
We we we we will get into that match. But but as as as standing alone this match.
Germany uh I I think I even hesitated a little bit about just calling Germany as the winner in our previous previous uh uh previous pod ride. Because I actually seriously contemplated could they actually lose this? Um and then I thought no Paraguay. They they they they they they they blunk their very first game as the US. They can't possibly Germany. Nope. Germany has some serious problems. Um it's not that they don't have good players, which is what some people are calling it. But those players don't gel. Remember you you all remember you you remember England with Gerard and um Lampard, right? That problem?
Yeah, golden generation, brilliant players, none of them in the right position.
Yeah, I don't think Muziala and Florian were sphere fit in the same team. So they have the same problem. Um and and then the problem is they have all their good players like in the midfield and all want to play in the center. They don't have good wide players. They have again the striker, again Undolf started. Maybe he should have been bit. Nagosman was right originally. Maybe maybe putting him on like summing him from the bench was the better idea. But regardless, um, they didn't create enough. I think when you played teams like Paraguay, you just have to go after them immediately. Try to just put them on a back foot, run at them, a lot of energy and Germany would just still listless for most of the game.
Um and they only started trying a bit too late. Paraguay's already sort of siege mentality and then in defense, um Julian CISO is like five foot seven eight. You can't let a person like that score on a header if you're Germany. So that is just embarrassing.
Uh my my interpretation of this match is that Germany probably came in complacent. and only realized too late what was at stake. And I think actually the fact that it went to Penns was almost generous. And you know, I really respected Paraguay for how they made the virtue of what were their on paper, not not sort of, you know, dominating strengths against Germany. I think you're totally right, Germany's got too many players in the wrong places. But I think actually this was a complacency loss more than anything else and they should
