Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
This is a Global Player original podcast. Hello and welcome to Amber and Vogue and Vogue and Amber the podcast. Imagina is not here today. We have Alexandra joining us. So there you go. That's the news and gossip. Amber, how's your week been? Hello all. My week has been a bit of a roller coaster. I'm going to get this one in here because we're literally on the cusp of February.
I'm only allowed to say I'm sick once a month. I've had swollen tonsils all week. But you know what I discovered? I said this to you. Disprin. Disprin's a game changer for gargling. And it tastes quite delicious. I think you're a hypochondriac. I'm not a hypochondriac, Vogue. You can hear it. You were going on about your nail as well today.
Chapter 2: What health issues does Amber discuss before the Brit Awards?
Oh, Vogue. Sorry. I don't really want to show people because, like, my nails are in bits. Every call I have at Amber, something is wrong with her. Look at that elevation. What are you going to do when you're really sick? I'll take myself to the hospital or I'll call an ambulance. Yeah, I think so.
No, I'm going to soak the finger in salty water because that's a little, it's not sore, so I don't think it's infected. But anyway, I'm not using the finger. It's my tonsils. Okay. I'm just reluctant. I'm reluctant to go on antibiotics because we is, we is going somewhere tomorrow. So I need to be in top form. Amber and I are going to the Brits.
So we're recording this on a Friday and we haven't fully confirmed our outfits and it's tomorrow. So that's exciting. I've never been. I've only once went to the after parties and the after parties are a lot of fun. What do you mean we haven't confirmed our outfits? I have. I went into Karina. She gave me a bit of help. And then I went to mom and I felt like I was mom's little doll.
Mom kept putting on like all these mom outfits. I was like, mom, you've gone too mom-ish. And then she wanted me to wear something that looked like I was the bride at a wedding. But you know what else I found out? Pete is going to the Brits. I know. Pete, who helps us with some research on this pod, is also going to the Brits. I am just excited.
I'm hoping there'll be like a surprise performance from SD Kid. I've never seen Harry Styles live, so I'm looking forward to seeing him. I don't know what to expect. I don't have any expectations. I'm just thinking, shall I do what we did when you were on that dancing show where I remember me, Cass and Frederick went around trying to take his money? Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.
It's bad enough going to the Baptist with Sven and he's obsessed with famous people. You're not going around and asking anybody who is in any way recognizable. You're not allowed to talk to them. Listen, they'll probably just be drawn to me. That's what I'm hoping, okay? Okay, if they're drawn to you, fine, but don't go near them otherwise. I don't know. I feel like...
I think this is going to be really fun because it's a music award show and we're going to be watching musicians perform. It's early. Yeah. What are the timings? Like, do we, what happens? I don't know. Red carpet starts at half four. So we'll get there for half five. Then there's a dinner and then the show starts promptly at eight. So you don't want to be there too early. Oh my goodness. Yeah.
This is all about pacing oneself. So, and that would not be my forte. Yeah. Will Amber make it to the after party? We don't know.

Chapter 3: What are Vogue and Amber's thoughts on afterparties versus kebabs?
I was thinking if we didn't go to the after party, we could always go and get a delicious takeaway somewhere like we used to do when we were in uni in Scotland. I never do that anymore. Get a massive takeaway and go back to the hotel and just eat all the food and fall asleep. It would be remiss not to just go to the after party even for like half an hour, an hour. Yeah, I was thinking that.
I will pace myself and we will see how we go. And worst case scenario, we get a kebab, go back to the hotel. That sounds like a great, I probably won't get a kebab. I was at your friend Claudia Winkleman's pub quiz this week. I couldn't look at her without thinking Winkleman. How was it? It was fun. Pub quizzes are fun. Do you remember the days when we used to play?
What was that quiz that everyone was doing online with each other? Heads up. Oh no, no, no. House party, house party. Everyone was on house party. That's not a quiz. That was just like a way for everyone to go online. Yeah, so there was house party, but we used to do a family quiz every week and mom and Neil would win and mom would be like, oh, we won again.
And I'd be like, yeah, it had nothing to do with you, Sandra. Neil won, basically. You didn't win. That would get a little bit hairy, though, at the best of times. House party, like it's funny, all those different things. I remember as well, they had watch party capability on Netflix where you could watch the same thing as someone else who's in a different household.
So you'd be watching it at the same time. Oh, I quite like that idea. Yeah. Yes, I've tried to do that with Leah. I know you'll probably find that icky, but listen, we are where we are. Oh God, I used to go out with people. I used to go out with people. I'll tell you who it is privately. And like we'd be on a plane together and we would like sync what we were watching. Oh, gross.
I used to do that. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. So in terms of my week, what I did was I met up with the girls. So me and three of the girls I went to school with were absolutely horrendous about just even aligning diaries. And I will hold my hands up. I'm probably the biggest blocker with this. Why are you the blocker? You've got the most time.
But now I have time before I didn't have time and it would irritate them. So I missed out on the Christmas thing that they did. I think that actually got completely pulled. But anyway, we went on a walk, Ling, Vicky, Keelan and me. I saw Lynn sent me a disappearing picture of you pissing on the side of the road. That was one of the things I was going to say. So we're walking along anyway.
And Lynn, you know this that we talked about Lynn having huge areolas.
stop Amber Lynn won't like us talking about her areolas she whipped her boob out on the bloody cliff walk to flash us and then we were going further down the road and I was like I don't think I'm going to be able to last so we were in a lane I was able to like Lynn Lynn just stood there looking at me I was like turn around Lynn so how did you she didn't just stand there she was taking pictures Amber actually she had a purpose

Chapter 4: How does Vogue describe her experience with a haunted basement?
Now, is there someone else that we send, like, I don't know, Tina Turner or Diana Ross? No. No. David Attenborough feels like the best choice Morgan Freeman you're just like his voice no no no David Attenborough is an incredibly smart individual I feel like Barack Obama then Like he's very chilled. He's considered. I think let's send Barack and David. They'd be a good duo to send. And a woman.
We need a woman too. I was going to send Hillary Clinton, but she's been on the... What about your one that was... Hold on, I have to look up her name. Do you know what? The President of Ireland. Let's send her. Catherine Connolly. No, I would like to send... If we see Catherine Connolly at the parade, we have to try and get an invite to the house. The Oireachtas, not the Oireachtas. Oh my God.
You're one who was the, who's the prime minister in New Zealand. The female. Oh God, yeah. Is it Jacinda Ardern? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Jacinda Ardern. Is it not Jacinda? It's J-A-C-I-N-D-A. I mean, whatever you want to say. She's fantastic. I'd like to send her. I think she, I like, I like her mind. I like her views. So her Barack ad.
Maybe somebody that's really good crack and totally, Ruby Wax, send her just so it's like a nice mix. She might derail communications. I think she'd be too much of a distraction. Okay. What's changed your life the most in the last 12 months? Moderation. Yeah, I do. I feel, I feel, I feel good at the moment.
Now, I'll have a couple of drinks with you at the Brits, but I do, it makes them, I just think that you have to figure out what works for you. And boozing, like, I'm so affected by it the next day and days after that. It's just, although, listen, don't get me wrong, I definitely will be binging everything.
in future because I do have a bit of a laugh but probably more when I'm on holidays and stuff when I don't I hate trying to catch my tail and just being like oh and feeling dreadful and just being like why did I do that I just want to feel good so yeah I would agree with you on that I think it's made a big difference to me More kind of, yeah, moderation and kind of more self-awareness.
Like, you know what as well? I saw Louise's husband talking about this, about biohacking. And I do feel like some of that stuff has gone too far. I just feel like the main things that you need to be doing for your health and you don't have to pay for them. Water, getting the right amount of water. Sleep is the number one thing that you need.
You need to have a consistent bedtime and you need to be sleeping for a decent amount of time each night. Like sleep is the most important thing. None of this like red light. Well, I like red light therapy as well. But like you don't have to spend money on the most important things for your health. Getting up and getting moving. All those things are free and they're the most important.
Sometimes I think like I follow some biohackers and I'm like, fuck. What is biohacking? What is biohacking? Oh, God. Is this bad? I don't know what this is. Oh, shit. What? Do you know Brian Johnson? He's the biggest biohacker. I actually find him interesting to follow. Is that the guy who uses his son's blood?
