We're gonna shift into uh um not that that wasn't fun, but uh we're gonna shift into what we call our lightning round, where I'm gonna ask you search related questions from from this week's topics and we're gonna dive into a kind of quick response and kind of where you see the industry or the direction going.
Jordan Cooney 1:01
All right. Cool.
Lindsay Nelson 1:02
Let's do it.
Jordan Cooney 1:03
Cool. So uh what one technology that you've seen in the past five years is now completely useless in this AI era?
Lindsay Nelson 1:14
Oh, a technology that's completely useless. Oh, um, this is really old, I guess, at this point, but like all of the the MDOT sites, the moment that we were deciding that every website had to have a mobile site or amp. pages where that that was huge and we were all gonna like just have a different mobile experience and now with mobile first and AI being kind of the same way it's I don't even think most people know what those things are anymore.
Jordan Cooney 1:43
Yeah. What do you think? Do you think that's gonna impact websites like, you know, just this past week, uh, you know, uh Chat GPT and and a variety of other uh major enterprises announced a Gen Dick Commerce Protocol. Do you think websites are now gonna have to change because of these protocols?
Lindsay Nelson 1:59
I think it's in its infancy. I I think we need some time with those pieces. From what I've seen in terms of outputs from these LLMs and their buying environment, their ability to actually serve products and the ability to buy products is still really poor. Um, and we're still seeing people educating themselves, learning, exploring, and then they go to Google in the standard blue links and they click a site and they buy. I think breaking that habit is gonna take time. I was just having a conversation though about how maybe five years ago I didn't buy anything on my phone, right? If you made a big purchase, I had to go to my computer and buy something because I I I don't know, I just didn't trust the phone.
Lindsay Nelson 2:45
Right. It took time, right? But then Last Christmas, I don't know that I bought a single thing from my, you know, laptop or desktop computer. It was my phone when I was sitting on the couch. So we we can move, but I think it's gonna take time for those kinds of things when there's money involved.

Time for a one-minute break to hear from our sponsor, Previsible. So you're looking for SEO help, then you got a couple of options. You could start replying to spam from agencies that claim they can get you to rank number one on Google. You can pay an hourly rate for a consultant who will inevitably nickel and dime you with hourly charges, or you can work with a cookie cutter agency to quickly launch a strategy-less project with low success rate. None of those sound very good. Now do they? Well, that's where Previsible's integrated consulting model comes in. Previsible draws from a collective 40 years of SEO and digital marketing experience to unlock your organic growth opportunities.

How does the host introduce the lightning‑round with Lindsay Nelson?

Unknown 3:40
They build custom solutions that combine strategy, technical expertise, content, and reporting to effectively operationalize SEO for your business. Pre-Visible's four-stage approach ensures that your SEO programs thrive. By starting off with a strategy first approach. Then they support you in your efforts to create quality content, help you identify technical issues, and most importantly, they'll work with your cross-functional teams to integrate your SEO strategies to make sure that your SEO budget actually drives results, not just your agency's bottom line.
