What one word does the host ask to describe the current state of SEO with AI?

Jordan Cooney 0:43
Alright, so what's the word? Give me one word that describes the current state of SEO with the shift in AI in search and discovery.
Aimee Jurenka 0:52
Wild. It's either wild or vampire, but that's more than one word. Uh yeah, it's wild. It's wild. It's wild to see. So many people like me who are like this is so exciting and let's poke it with a stick and what are our ideas and you know let's let's find all the you know the DOJ docs and let's go through them and see what we can do and let's come up with new ideas and what's your theory and let's test this and let's build this and that is just absolutely wild and awesome. And it's also absolutely wild to me the people that are like this is you know, this is a waste of time, you know, the people that are like kind of staunchy like SEO. was SEO and absolutely wild to me that there's this this this like kind of resistance to it because I know when I joined SEO that was one of the things I loved about it.
Aimee Jurenka 1:35
Like SEO wasn't even supposed to be a marketing channel.

Why do the guests describe the SEO landscape as “wild” and what does that mean for practitioners?

Aimee Jurenka 1:38
SEO's made it a marketing channel. Did it have a name then? No.
Jordan Cooney 1:42
Right.
Aimee Jurenka 1:42
They invented it, right? So like that's I feel like the whole industry's been based off of that, right? What can we invent for ourselves and make for ourselves? You know, and I mean along with that, like we had updates called Fred, right? Because they didn't want him in the update. And so he named it after his fish, right? Like it's a joke. And then we all adopted it, right? Panda, penguin. Right.

How have historic Google updates (Panda, Penguin, Fred) shaped today’s SEO mindset?

Aimee Jurenka 2:00
So this has always just been a fun, imaginative, you know, uh, let's see what we can do. We're gonna make this a real thing sort of industry.

Time for a one-minute break to hear from our sponsor, Previsible. So you're looking for SEO help, then you got a couple of options. You could start replying to spam from agencies that claim they can get you to rank number one on Google. You can pay an hourly rate for a consultant who will inevitably nickel and dime you with hourly charges, or you can work with a cookie cutter agency to quickly launch a strategy-less project with low success rate. None of those sound very good. Now do they? Well, that's where Previsible's integrated consulting model comes in. Previsible draws from a collective 40 years of SEO and digital marketing experience to unlock your organic growth opportunities. They build custom solutions that combine strategy, technical expertise, content, and reporting to effectively operationalize SEO for your business.

What challenges and resistance are SEO professionals facing with AI‑driven change?

Unknown 2:53
Previsible's four stage approach ensures that your SEO programs thrive. By starting off with a strategy first approach. Then they support you in your efforts to create quality content, help you identify technical issues, and most importantly, they'll work with your cross-functional teams to integrate your SEO strategies to make sure that your SEO budget actually drives results, not just your agency's bottom line. So join brands like Yelp, eBay, Canva, Atlassian, Square, all who rely on the SEO consultant. At Previsible. For more information, go to previsible.io. That's previsible P-R-E-V-I-S-I-B-L-E.io.

Um, and so I think it's wild that we're in a spot in a time where us that are into that really can thrive. I mean, there's just so much we can do. Um and I also think it's absolutely wild that there's so many people in this industry that are fighting that. Kind of like, Where where'd you come from?
Jordan Cooney 3:50
Well, change is hard. Change is hard, Amy.

How does the sponsor Previsible’s integrated consulting model address modern SEO needs?

Jordan Cooney 3:53
You know, I don't think everyone wants to to adopt it.
