Why does the host argue that short‑form platforms like Reddit may outperform YouTube for AI citations?

Jordan Cooney 0:46
If you had to prioritize one, Reddit or YouTube engagement, which one wins in an AI first search world? I
Danny Kirk 0:55
would say
Jordan Cooney 0:55
Reddit.
Danny Kirk 0:56
It, you know, I've got a face for radio, so I've never been never never been a YouTube guy myself. I think a more interesting thing, or maybe on some of the shorter form, our attention spans are going down and down. YouTube, boy, it's funny. I can't even watch a 20-minute video now. So um I I think about some of the other platforms like uh TikTok or something like that, where they're even shorter forms. Format. and still a s social network, I would probably be a little bit more bullish on that being the future versus YouTube just because the content is so long format. Having said that, you're gonna get a lot more data from YouTube.

How do product‑focused brands navigate the friction between Reddit threads and YouTube videos?

Danny Kirk 1:34
So uh the incentives might be for the data if they're in need of it.
Jordan Cooney 1:38
Let's talk specifically about products because I think this is one of the cross sections that's very tricky. And I've seen it be very challenging for brands, especially direct-to-consumer brands that have a physical good, you know, think luggage or clothing. You know, YouTube is just such a powerful sentiment when you have an influencer or an expert talking about the product and it just It just it encapsulates so much more than what you could ever put into a Reddit thread. So tell me what your thoughts are on that and that kind of friction point or opportunity that exists within Reddit or YouTube for products.

Time for a one-minute break to hear from our sponsor, Previsible. So you're looking for SEO help, then you got a couple of options. You could start replying to spam from agencies that claim they can get you to rank number one on Google. You can pay an hourly rate for a consultant who will inevitably nickel and dime you with hourly charges, or you can work with a cookie cutter agency to quickly launch a strategy-less project with low success rate.

What strategic tactics does Danny Kirk recommend for optimizing Reddit comments for AI search advantage?

Unknown 2:41
None of those sound very good. Now do they? Well, that's where Previsible's integrated consulting model comes in. Danny Kirk 3:46
Yeah, so the way I look about it uh is that um consumer buying trends are changing. It used to be you go to Google, you type something in, you check the first three links, go to the website, read about it, and then you kind of just buy from there, or maybe you go to Amazon and read all the reviews and whatnot. Now it's Ask Chat GPT, and then you're like, Well, I should probably double check. So let me either Go to Reddit because that's my favorite source of like humans, or let me go to Instagram or YouTube because I uh follow the influencers there.
