Hello, marketers and SEOs. Welcome to the Voices of Search Podcast. I'm your host, Jordan Cooney, and today we're going to be discussing Brighton SEO San Diego. Joining me is Calvin Newman, who is the founder of Brighton SEO, the largest search marketing conference, and they're coming back to San Diego. Today, Calvin and I are going to discuss the growth of live events. Okay, here's my Conversation with Calvin Newman, the founder of Bright Nesio. Calvin, welcome to the Voices Search Podcast.
Kelvin Newman 1:14
Hey, hello everyone, and thanks so much for having me back. I'm very pleased to be joining you again. And yeah, I hope everyone's doing well and enjoying this dramatic and dynamic um world of digital and search marketing that's seems to be only getting ever more dynamic and um um all of those side of things. I hope everyone's well.
Jordan Cooney 1:32
Absolutely. Now, I know you're coming back to the United States and I just need to start off by saying thank you for scheduling this after the election because nobody knows what's going to happen in early November. But uh as my lead in question here, tell us a little bit about Brighton SEO San Diego this year. When is it gonna happen? Where is it gonna be? Obviously I kind of already mentioned San Diego, but give us some of the details and the facts behind the event this year.
Kelvin Newman 1:57
Yeah, yeah. So nineteenth and twentieth are the main conference days, nineteenth and twentieth of November. And we've also got a day of training. So that the conference is Tuesday and Wednesday, but there's an optional day of training that takes place on the Monday. Yeah, that's in San Diego, um at the Grand Hyatt. So right on the waterfront, right by the gas lamp district, um, if you know San Diego. And yeah, we're really excited to have it back. So we the event launched Launched last year in the States, so it's been running in the UK for um it's our fifteenth birthday next year.
Jordan Cooney 2:30
Good drop.
Kelvin Newman 2:30
Um and yeah, we were really pleased with the event. I mean, it was a big big step for us in terms of um bringing an event that runs twice a year in Brighton, which is the location. Started out as a few people meeting in an upstairs room with the pub and it done very well. It's thousands of people coming from fifty different countries to the UK event. But for a long time we'd heard from our speakers, from our sponsors and from our guests that they, you know, loved the event when they could come over but really like the idea of doing a an event in the States. So yeah, kind of the stars aligned. And yeah, we we launched our first event in San Diego. The city um we really loved as well. It's it's different to the where the UK event happens, but there's lots of similarities.
Kelvin Newman 3:09
It's got kind of a slightly artsy, seasidey, um you know holiday kind of destination. Um and yeah so it's really nice as well because I I think it's important when people are travelling for business events, if, you know, that's a chunk of the day when they're kind of in that conference hall or in that space, but then they're going off to have parties, they're going out for lunches, they're maybe there a day before, a day after. It's quite nice if people go to a destination where there's some nice stuff to check out as well.
Jordan Cooney 3:36
No doubt, absolutely. And last year I I had a great time. Uh thank you for inviting me to the conference. And I thought it was uh not only a phenomenal job of what you all put together, but an incredibly educational and phenomenal way to build community in the SEO paid search and content marketing space.
