So let's dive in and talk about all things weddings. Christine, welcome to the Wedding Planning Experts Podcast. We are excited to have you here today for a couple reasons.
Number one, you're an amazing travel agent. But almost more importantly to me is our friendship that we've gained over 17 plus years now as I had the privilege to photograph your wedding. And we've become such great friends with you and Dustin. So we want to welcome you here.
Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Yeah, truly. 17 years we met you guys at the Wedding Expo. Set up the date. Had a fantastic time. It was just this organic relationship that we've maintained for almost two decades.
Oh, absolutely. And we've done some fun things together. And we kind of live vicariously through you and Dustin because you travel so many. We love to travel, but we don't travel like you travel. You guys have been all over the world and into some amazing places.
We have. We've been very blessed to be able to see, I think the last time we counted was 39 countries. we're up to now over the last 15 or so years.
So with that being said, what led you to become a travel agent?
I think. Partially, and my husband will agree, is I like the details. I like to know what I'm getting for the experience. So if we're going to book something, I want to know how many things am I going to see? Who am I going to talk to? What am I going to eat? What time are we going to get there? What does the property look like? And I wanted to orchestrate that to our pace. And so we dabbled with cruises for the first few years. And then our first big trip overseas was in 2012 with a couple of our friends. And we did Ireland and England. And that was very eye-opening. That was a good introduction trip, I think, to international travel.
We had a trip planned to Ireland. Our 25th anniversary got canceled because of COVID, but it's still back on our bucket list.
Yeah, absolutely. I think it's great to start in a destination where at least there's a variation of English as the primary language because it gives you that comfort level. You don't feel like you have that language barrier. if you get lost if you get on the wrong train or you miss a bus you're more likely to go up to approach a stranger or someone in a shop and ask them for help or directions versus going to say asia and feeling very much like an outlier and i don't even know where to begin if something like that happens so the the uk ireland england scotland those destinations are great starting points
So in the podcast, ours is geared towards brides. We want to help brides plan their wedding stress-free and on budget and provide helpful details. This podcast, I think, is also going to help potentially parents. But geared towards brides, we're going to talk about destination weddings and honeymoons. And we're going to initially start off with destination weddings. And I'm kind of curious what some popular locations are for those that you see.
I think you have a mix. You've got people that are more comfortable doing domestic vacations. So you might see destinations like Florida or Hawaii. Charleston is even a popular option down south. If you're looking more international, popular places would be Mexico. It's an easy flight from most places in the US. You're looking at places like Belize, St. Lucia, Anguilla is kind of an off the beaten path destination that I've seen, Antigua, Dominican Republic.
