What challenges do successful people face daily?

Andy Frisella 0:01
There is not a day that I get out of bed that I wake up that I don't feel like going back to sleep or that I don't have anxiety about what my day is going to bring. And I'm nervous and I'm scared. And you know what I do? I wake up and I go handle it.
David Goggins 0:16
You don't get better on the daggone couch. You get better by coming out here and getting after it every daggone day. Consistency. Imagine that, doing it every day.
What? You're saying I can't do it anymore for two weeks and then quit? Most of you in here, you're quitters. You know why you're never going to make it? It's because you quit. I don't even need to beat you. It'll beat you.

How can consistency lead to personal growth?

You beat yourself. Nobody's ruining your life. Nobody's sabotaging you.
David Goggins 0:46
You're being weak. Because I know there's so many people that have the ability and just refuse to get off that couch, refuse to study a few more hours, refuse to go deeper, to go further. And that's where I gained the advantage. It's so easy to be great nowadays, my friend, because most people are weak. Most people don't want to go to that extra mile. Most people don't want to find that extra because it sucks. It's miserable. It's lonely.
Everyone does a few reps when the burn starts and they stop. No one goes the extra mile and keeps going. There are no traffic jams in the last mile of the race. It's just you and your shadow.

What mindset is needed to overcome quitting?

In the beginning, everybody's there. All the pretenders and the contenders, they're all there. But the last yard of life, the last mile of the journey, ain't nobody but you and your shadow. Traffic jams don't exist that far because everyone else has already given up. That's what I like too, the mental concept. I'm going that far. I love the physical high of the burn being released. I love the mental high that I can prove myself. I love the mentality that I'm defeating my competitors silently when they don't even know it. They're out partying. I'm out here getting ahead. We get to 530 in the morning and it's pouring rain outside. Our competition is sleeping. I love that. Late at night, man. Friday night. It was our party.
I love that, man. They're all out there getting wasted, man. I'm in here getting stronger for it. They get a good night's sleep with rest and nutrition. I'm going to wake up. They're going to be hungover. I'm going to wake up kicking ass before they even know what hit them. I'm just thinking how funny it is where I'm going to be tomorrow morning in my competition. Still drinking down on their fears and trying to escape their current reality. I'm working tonight. I laugh at how much further I'm getting ahead of them. Choices we make, guys, that leads to differential being remembered, forgotten.
Andy Frisella 2:31
There's no luck in this game.

How does discipline contribute to success?

Andy Frisella 2:33
The luck happens after you bust your ass and you put yourself in that lucky situation. Luck doesn't happen. You put yourself in that situation where luck might nap. The secret is to make a plan, execute the plan, come obsessed with the plan, and make it your entire life from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed for as long as it takes.
Champions aren't found on the podium with their hand up, no. Champions are found in lab studies. The thousands of hours of hard work when no one's watching. When you're in here and no one else is. And you're pushing yourself harder than anybody with no one around. That's what makes The Will unstoppable. It's like every dream reality for you. People far less talented than you, far less potential than you, far less ability than you, have achieved far greater because they had that one something they can't buy harder. And I'm dying to middle. That's next minute. I hear a day is called Monday. There's Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. I've never heard this day called Sunday. Someday I'm gonna change.
Andy Frisella 3:37
And that sounds good when you're tired. That sounds good when you're worn out. I'm too tired to handle this. Everybody's tired. Every single great thing that you've ever looked at in your entire life was created by tired people. Just keep that in mind. Man, I have done a lot today.
