The postnatal time should be one of replenishing, restoring and bonding right? Yet in Western Cultures it seems this time is rarely treated as such. We live busy lives, are surrounded by the "social media super mums", receive little education surrounding the postpartum and culturally don't view it as a right of passage or even a time of "rest and restoring". But at what cost is this to the health of the Mother? What is the Postpartum? What is Postnatal depletion? How can we best prepare for this time? To answer these questions and so much more I am honoured to be joined with Dr Oscar Serrallach for today's episode. Dr Oscar Serrallach Dr Oscar Serrallach is a functional medicine Doctor who is well known in the Postnatal field. His journey into this area was inspired following his partner Carolines home births and her postpartum experience. Through his own personal and professional experience Dr Serrallach realised the huge impact that nutrition, lifestyle and environment have on the postnatal period. He is the author of the Postnatal Depletion Cure" an incredible book where he shares his knowledge surrounding the postpartum and his unique protocols developed to avoid and/or treat postnatal depletion.
