Thank you for listening :)Join us on Instagram @zalamit.podcastKey Words: packed / orderedText:"We stopped at a roadside restaurant, in the middle of nowhere. We sat at the only table available. Who would have thought a restaurant in a location like this one would be packed. The waiter come to our table and said.“ Hi and welcome. Today’s specials are roasted chicken, lamb skewers, liver skewers, soup, French fries, rice, and Hmis.”He was wearing a butcher’s uniform. He dabbed the sweat on his forehead with a napkin.“Thank you. Could we have a minute to decide.” Said Dahman“Of course, would you like me to start with the drinks while you decide. We have soda, juice and homemade tea.” The waiter said.“We’ll have some Hammoud please, and a bottle of water.” Dahman said.“Coming right up. ““What’s that thing he said at the end? Hmaizz, was it?” I asked.“Hmis. It’s a type of salad. It’s made with roasted peppers, tomatoes, garlic and olive oil. You eat it with bread. It’s delicious, if you don’t mind a bit of a kick.” Dahman said.“I don’t mind. I love spicy food.” I said.We ordered and the food arrived quickly, thankfully. I was drowning in saliva from the smell of the barbecue. The skewers were covered in cumin seeds and chili powder. The Hmis was excellent. When the bill came, I tried to pay. I had my wallet ready, but Dahman refused to let me pay, like every time. I’m grateful and uncomfortable at the same time."
