هاني عواد باحث في المركز العربي للأبحاث ودراسة السياسات. حاصل على الدكتوراه في التنمية الدولية من جامعة أكسفورد، المملكة المتحدة. تتركز اهتماماته البحثية في البحوث المقارنة، ودراسة المؤسسات السياسية، وسياسات الاستبداد والتعبئة السياسية والاجتماعية، والحركات الإسلامية، والحركات الاجتماعية في الشرق الأوسط. نُشرت دراساته في عدد من الدوريات، منها "British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies" و"Middle East Critique"، وهو مؤلف كتاب "The Dilemma of Authoritarian Local Governance in Egypt" (مطبعة جامعة إدنبرة، 2022)، وكتاب "تحولات مفهوم القومية العربية: من المادي إلى المتخيل" (الشبكة العربية للأبحاث والنشر، 2012). ويصدر له قريبًا كتاب تحت عنوان "لماذا يؤسس الطغاة أحزابًا؟ أدلة من مجموعتين إقليميتين"، عن المركز العربي للأبحاث ودراسة السياسات.
