Who is the new Mobility Services Coordinator and what are their responsibilities?

Ray Delpech 0:05
All right, time to AI. Welcome everybody here tonight. Um Call his meeting to order. First out of business. Be the introduction of guests. We don't know this reversal.
Unknown 0:23
Uh yes. I I'd like for you all to meet Mariah O'Connessy.
Vlad 0:30
Okay.
Unknown 0:32
Um she is our mobile I don't have to say her last name a lot 'cause I walked right next to her. Um, she's our new mobility services coordinator. Oh, she's been here for for several months now.
Mariah O'Connessy 0:42
I just passed a year. Um the I'm sorry I haven't been here sooner. It's just um schedules did not align, unfortunately. Um Kate Party with my position. Absolutely. So pretty much I'm the main point of contact for paratransit, which is how Evelyn and I know each other. And I'm also in charge of the mobility assistance program. So I concentrate on finding transportation gaps for people for that either from an equitable or disability or accessible standpoint for some reason are unable to use public transit or need a little help to be able to use public transit. Um, I'm also the main point of contact for our travel training program that educates people in making sure that they can understand transit. And Again, just inclusivity as a whole.
Mariah O'Connessy 1:25
But I'm happy to be here and happy to finally meet everyone.
Ray Delpech 1:29
Well, thank you. Thank you very much.
Unknown 1:32
And she always has on good shoes, her it
Mariah O'Connessy 1:37
Evelyn and I talk about shoes.
Unknown 1:39
You know, if you can't get the transit, let your feet do that. Gotta always be prepared. Oh. Anyway, you can scratch that for the minute.
Ray Delpech 1:54
Uh, do we have anybody who we're gonna be doing any public comments?
Unknown 1:59
I'm still a member of the public, I'm sorry. You got you got three minutes. So I have some ideas on the Khmer bus pilots. Wanna introduce yourself for the minutes? Kevin uh Potter Um I've been here so a lot of you guys know me. Really? Um I got some ideas on the Khmer bus pilots, but I'm not gonna go into those 'cause that's gonna go over three minutes. Instead what I wanna focus on is the uh Dulles Town Center. their new expo and event center. Um obviously we all know, I think most of us know how popular the conferences were uh at Dulles Expo Expo Center were. I think that the schedule for the three twenty two, especially since the Dulles Expo Center didn't have a direct metro connection. is going to be a little strained, I guess, by ridership uh going into the
Unknown 2:54
whenever they open the uh new Dulles Town Center event and Expo Center. And I think that should be potentially reviewed maybe. Yeah, I can just comment on that that uh the applicant who's doing that work, they do have an application in the county and uh all the departments including ours are taking a look at it. They have been willing to maintain their transit hub there and to improve it as part of their redevelopment.
Ray Delpech 3:23
So your concern is a the assumption that the
Unknown 3:27
schedule gonna be overwhelmed. I I think so, yeah. I think the ridership 'cause I uh I've ridden that route. You guys operate uh the Ford bus on chassis buses on that route. And those are very, you know, they don't have a lot of Room, I guess. I don't I don't think it's gonna be uh and they run hourly, I think, on the weekends. Yeah, it's about hour. Yep. Yeah. So Yeah, and as Sarah was mentioned, we actually got wind of that uh Expo Center when the developer was presenting their plans and asking for Oh of course, you know, discussing the proffer plans, things those types of things. So We're actually looking at their whole community 'cause it's gonna be a mix of residents going to jobs. Employees coming to jobs and then recreational uses like the Expo Center.
Unknown 4:17
And that's they told us about that and then I don't think it was even a month later they fired off the press release that said that the Expo Center was moving up there that they had secured them. So Yeah, now their timeline for opening, I'm not a hundred percent sure what that is. I think they were gonna utilize one of the existing anchor chain spaces that's so I think they could possibly get the expo center open fairly quickly. Yeah, it's the Lord and Taylor, which is like right next to where they So yeah, and the three twenty two I'd have to go back and look 'cause we are looking at
