It's
That's right.
I think It can be all day.
What do staff mean? Bill Hatch a church.
Oh, it's nice to see you. I've heard your name quite a few times. No, thank you. Can you hear me okay? Yep, perfectly. Okay, good. Hello, Melanie. Hello. Hello. Bill, are you in church right now? Uh you know, this came out of the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Building in Saint Louis, Missouri. I just happened to find it when I was there on business. Wow, that's very true. It is not a church. Okay.
Stephanie, I think we have I'm gonna say committee side, let us know when staff is on. There's T U? Okay. So I think this is everybody. Dale's there. I see Dale. Oh Well Joe, I think that's what we had on the committee side, right? Okay.
Was Kenneth Burks on it? He wasn't on it.
Hello Maggie. Hello everyone. I'm gonna jump off, my camera's not working.
Dale, are you asking a question?
Yeah. I said was Dennis Burks not on it?
Oh, uh Dennis was on it, but I don't see him on the call yet. You're right. Yeah, they got it. I sent it to them. Yeah.
Well Ian I see you popped on.
I well I'm gonna get started. It's two o'clock and I know Staff's time is precious time, so Um, I don't really have an agenda or a an order here. I think I will generally say to everybody Um, there's been some discussion in the zoning ordinance committee about fencing. Bill, I know you've led most of it in our committee. Um We wanted to r I think we wanted to I think the chair wanted to Have a Uh just a session with some interested parties to talk through concerns that people might have. Um I guess I'll say Bo and Bill. Unless you all want a presentation. I'm under the impression you are well versed in all of this and I'd like to just kind of have a conversation about you know, maybe some concerns that you all may have.
Um di Joe and Dale too and then sort of let staff answer questions. But if staff wants to do a preliminary presentation, I certainly wouldn't stop you Maggie Maggie, I or Melanie, I saw by the look on your face you don't, so I know that look. Um So I would say, Bill, I'll I'll put you on the spot and say, Why don't you why don't you lead us out here and let let's have some discussions about some items that you all would like to make sure we all understand. Yeah. Um Western Loudoun, uh cattle farming, um We need fences and It seemed like the wording that had come back. Maybe from staff. I don't know where it came from, but It was um it was dealing really with Um Oh gosh, residential type stuff. I I just didn't see
any leeway for farming and putting fences that are considered structures. in a in a floodplain. Now, Melanie, you can help me. Is this major floodplain only that we're talking about? I'll defer to Maggie. And I'll just I'll just say that we we want you to be able to put agricultural fences In the floodplain. So let us figure this out. So we're not coming at you from a a a standpoint of we think this is a bad idea. We recognize that these Especially for exclusion fencing, this is a this is good. We need to keep the animals out of the stream, so um I'll I'll defer to Maggie to to respond now. I mean so major or minor currently major and minor floodplain. Allow agricultural fences in the floodplain. Both up to a limit and then after that with a special exception.
Right. That limit is slightly. Five to six hundred square feet. Currently it's eight hundred and forty, but it's gonna be lowered to six hundred. Yeah, six hundred, which is the size of a residential garage shed type building. And I just don't see the um the wording or the kind of the How do we make it so that agriculture can put a fence that might be twelve, fifteen hundred, maybe three thousand feet long? And that would exceed the Six hundred square feet. Isn't six hundred square feet just for the circumference of the post, not Okay, that's what I thought. So is there a formula for you know this many posts fits within the amount? Mm, I'm gonna defer to Ryan who might be. I don't wanna be rude here, but the formula is pi r squared.
Uh that'll get you started. Is that only if it's a surfa We're using nine inches. Well I mean like if it's a half round or a
