All right, we are now on to item three, public comment time. We will hear in person and remote public comments. Please note the public comment is for items not listed on the agenda as part of a public hearing. We have three people signed up. With in-person public comments, so I will call you Elizabeth Matarama, Lori Williams, and Teresa Benz. Please state your name and where your magisterial district or where you generally reside. Lori, Teresa, you guys can go ahead and get in line.
Elizabeth Martirana, Gainesville District, Prince William County for almost 48 years. Two weeks ago I came and spoke to you about the $100 home assessments for those parcels in the Prince William Digital Gateway. I asked how this figure was derived and who made the decision for that assessment. I thereafter sent you an email reiterating my concerns and questions and asked for answers. At last week's board meeting, I showed you various discrepancies in land value assessments for parcels in the Digital Gateway. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to how these numbers came to be, and again, I asked how and who made those calculations and under what county ordinance or state statute. I have not received any answers to my request, and after asking two weeks ago where the buck stops in this county, I searched the county government website to find out.
Lo and behold, I came upon this county government organizational chart. I am pleased that it actually shows the residents of this county at the very top, followed by five divisions with the Board of County Supervisors front and center, down to the county executive with many departments under his management. So, Mr. Shorter, I have decided that the buck stops with you. Luckily, back in May of last year, I attended a historical commission meeting wherein Assistant County Attorney Scoff gave a class on FOIA. Therefore, Madam Clerk, could you please note that in accordance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Section 2.2-3700, I am hereby... verbally requesting of County Executive Shorter, Finance Director Atreid, and Real Estate Assessor Lindner copies of any writing or recording in any format that is prepared or owned by or in the possession of any officers, employees, or agents related to the calculations of assessments or reassessments, including any county ordinances, Virginia state statutes, or maps used as a matter of law,
pertaining to all parcels in the Digital Gateway from December 13th, 2023 to the present date. I would also like to request that all charges for supplying the records I have requested be estimated in advance and that I be notified of such charges. However, I would also like to request a waiver of fees in that the disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute significantly to the public's understanding of how these Digital Gateway 2024 assessments were calculated. If access to the records I am requesting will take longer than five days, please contact me with information about when I might expect copies of the requested records. If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.

Good evening. My name is Laurie Williams Woodbridge District resident also Woodbridge District School Board representative. But this evening I'm here speaking on as a private citizen and a parent. I just wanted to congratulate the board for all of your hard work and preparation for this evening. I am also appreciative as a parent and as well as a school board member for the additional money slotted for schools. And in speaking in that vein as a parent I know that next month on your agenda will be the topic of the sports and entertainment center.
