So much venture. Look it. Good afternoon, everyone. It gives me great honor to uh uh revis accommodation. Mr. Curtis O. Porter is a native son of Prince Wheaton County, Virginia, with a family history that spans over 230 years in the county. He retired on December 31st, 2024 as acting Associate Commissioner of the Administration for Children, ACF, and at the United States Department of Health and Human Services, HHS. Mr. Porter has served the citizens of Prince William County and the Commonwealth of Virginia on many boards, commissions, and community service organizations, including As a reserve deputy for the Prince William County Sheriff's Office, as a member of the Prince William County Library Advisory Board, as a vice chair of the Manassas African American Heritage Festival for more than 30 years.

As president of the Virginia Association for Human Rights and as a two-term president of the Princeton County NAACP. Curtis continues to serve our community on the Prince William County Historical Commission as chairman of the Prince William County Human Rights Commission and as the Vice Chairman of the Trustee Board of L at Little Union Baptist Church in Dumfries, Virginia. The Prince William Board of County Supervisors hereby recognizes, congratulates, and commend commends Mr. Curtis O Porter on his retirement and extends our deepest thanks for his longstanding and continuous leadership and service to the citizens of Prince William County. So I can see. Okay. So okay.

Supervisor Bailey, um Chair Jefferson, members of the board, uh it is uh In honor. Thank you so very much. It just knocked off the mouth but I'll get it. Thank you so very much. But Oftentimes um w people hear about Dr. King. We hear, you know, I've been to the mountaintop, I have a dream. Uh there were a couple other sermons that were very important that he gave and one that I have tried to live my life by was uh the one that he gave actually two months to the day before his assass uh his assassination. And it was called the drum major instinct. And to paraphrase he said that everyone can be great. Now if you wanna honor him for being great for some of the accomplishments, that's good. Everyone can be great.

And everyone can serve. So I have tried to live my life by being of service to my home community here. and um to the citizens of the United States of America in my last job in federal service and my thoughts go out to all my former federal colleagues now. And some people say, well you're retiring now because of the change in administration. Uh no, I'm I was reti I've worked for five administrations. But I was retiring because of this young man right here. So I I I traded I traded I I traded my traded my job for a full time daycare provider for my grandson.
