I'm Celine Wieckowski. I'm currently a police cadet at the Prince William County Police Department. So the cadet application process was fairly straightforward. You got a background check, a polygraph, went through a couple interviews. You started, you got full benefits. I have a full salary. You work full time and train and learn all about the department up until you go into the academy. It's a wonderful place to live and work. See yourself here at Prince William County.
How does the GIS division describe its role, services, and community impact?
I'm Danielle and I'm a team lead in the GIS division. What GIS is, is geographic information systems and GIS can be used in so many different ways and it deals with patterns and trends and you're able to take that data and it can tell a story. We're a behind the scenes agency. We do a lot of the web apps for other agencies to help them do their job more efficient. And then the public and the citizens of Prince William County, they benefit from this greatly. If someone's coming into our office, they need our help. I feel like it's very important to educate them why they're here, to help them understand and walk them through the process. Prince William County is a county of people who care. We are here to help people and guide
them. Building those strong relationships with our customers is so meaningful to us. I am very passionate about helping people. I love to help people. And Prince William County has just, I'm in my 24th year here and it has been a wonderful place to work. I learn something new every day. Not only do I learn from my customers, but I learn from my colleagues. The team to me is so important. I have a wonderful team. They are very high performers. They go above and beyond on a daily basis. Just, I'm very proud of them. I'm very proud at how they help the public, how they help their colleagues. They always go the extra mile to help that customer get what they need. That is the most rewarding part of this job, is knowing that you're able to help someone, guide them, and give them what they need to solve their problem.

Child Abuse Prevention Month recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to strengthen families in order to prevent child abuse and neglect. Building resiliency is crucial in the prevention of child abuse. Resilience is the ability to bounce back during tough times and the process by which children and families meet personal and
family challenges, trauma, and manage setbacks and adversity. Bounce Back is an acronym created by Dr. Helen McGrath. for some of the foundational principles of resilience. Specifically, B, bad times don't last and things get better. O, other people can help support you if you talk to
them. U, unnecessary worries make things worse.
N, nobody is perfect. Not you, not your friends, not your family, not anybody. Concentrate on the good things in
life, no matter how small. E. Everybody experiences bad times, not just you. It is a normal part of life. B. Be positive no matter how small the
positives are and find the laughter. A. Accept what you can't change and
try to change what you can. C. Control your feelings and actions by controlling your thinking. K. Keep things in perspective. Even the worst moment is but one
moment in life.
When things don't go as you want, or if you get knocked down, remember that you can bounce back and be okay again.

Stream restoration is a practice of where a stream
may be out of balance or have a lot of problems and we try to repair that stream. And a stream restoration project is a device, a mechanism for us to rechannel and reshape the way the water flows through the ground here so that we intercept more of the sediment and send less of it downstream to the bay.
So what we did here to restore this channel is we reconnected it to a floodplain, restored the function of the channel, and created lots of habitat for fish and bugs and near stream habitat for birds and other types of animals.
