What procedural motions open the meeting and how is remote participation approved?
afternoon, everyone. Welcome to our October 15. border county supervisors meeting. We will start right now with a moment of silence.
Thank you now for the Pledge of Allegiance.
All right, so we have a couple of housekeeping items. The second we're going to get back to later on in the meeting, but the first, I understand that Supervisor Gordy will be participating remotely, so we will have to waive the rules of procedure to amend the agenda to approve a request to participate remotely through electronic means. Do I have a motion for that?
So moved. Second.
Thank you. Moved and properly seconded. Bailey Vega, any discussion? Hearing none, please vote.
Vote unanimous. Chair Jefferson absent from meeting and Supervisor Gordy absent from vote.
Thank you. Are we going to wait for Supervisor Gordy to pop online? All right. Supervisor Gordy, can you hear us?
He's muted, but it looks like he is with us. That said, we are going to move on to item three, public comment time. Looks like we have one speaker for public comment time. We will keep it open for the next 15 minutes if anyone else wants to sign up. As always, please identify yourself and whereabouts you live in the county, and you have three minutes to go. Ms. Menz, you're up.
Threesome Ends, Potomac District. I want to thank law enforcement and first responders for all that they do for us. And I want to comment
that we are in a spiritual war, and all of us need to pray. We really need to pray.
Satan followers are very active, very self-serving. Okay, just learned Governor, okay, Governor Youngkin of Virginia said, announced that there were non-citizens on the voter rolls, and he did this about a couple of months ago. Well, out of the blue, our illustrious DOJ is suing Virginia, saying it's not right to take these illegals off the roll. In other words, they're saying non-citizens have the right to vote. How things have changed. Haven't I said Democrats support illegals and terrorists? This behavior helps confirm my statements. Our government no longer supports the Constitution or the rule of law. And they celebrate DEI, racism,
pride groups, LGBTQ+, are all of Satan.
I just don't know when people are going to wake up and enjoy life and see the beauty in life instead of embracing Satan. And I'm sorry, Obama really opened my eyes. And this is why I can no longer support the Democrat party because the Democrat party has gotten worse and worse and worse. You're allowing. Oh, Biden. Oh, Biden. Oh my goodness. You're allowing Biden. and Kamala to betray America. They are in the pockets of China, Iran, even the Ukraine and Russia. And Hillary Clinton, she sold 20% of our uranium to Russia when she was in office. There's a lot that goes on that you people are ignoring. And this is another thing. People are coming to America. They have no intentions of assimilating. Our Democrat Party hasn't assimilated to America.
Our Democrat Party hasn't assimilated to the Constitution. Yes, they go to church, but who are they worshiping? Are they worshiping God in Jesus Christ's name or are they worshiping Satan? I defer to the latter. Yes, I'm very direct and to the point. Okay, God bless America.
Thank you, Ms. Menz. Doesn't look like we have anyone else signed up in person. Ms. Madden, anyone online? All right, thank you so much. And that will end public comment time. Now on to number four, county executive time. Mr. Shorter, the floor is yours.
Thank you, Chair. Just three quick items for me, really, to reflect out on the directives that were issued last time we were together, last week. So the Panhandling Communications Plan, that directive was issued really to make sure that we came back to the Board with a specific layout of communications engagement around panhandling that has been assigned to the Communications Office. A letter to the congressional delegation regarding the Drug Supply Chain Security Act. This was really related to the pharmaceutical management item that the board considered and voted on last week. And we are drafting that letter. And then finally, we received a directive on allowable construction hours compared to other jurisdictions.
