Thank you, Chair, and uh thank you, committee and good morning, committee members. So I'm gonna turn it right on over to uh Matthew Corneliuson. Um This is a part two discussion. You may recall just a few months ago in this committee. meeting uh we s we we we started the conversation around changes to the CIP to make sure that each of the board offices had an opportunity to uh to provide feedback and input. Uh this is uh this is result of some of that input uh and an update from uh from the management budget office. So Matt with that I will turn it over over to you.
Matthew Cornelison 21:07
Thank you. Good morning, Mr Chair, members of the committee. My name's Matthew Cornelison. I'm with the Office of Management and Budget. I'm the coordinator for the county's capital improvement program. Uh I am here. Today, as Mr. Schwarter said, this is really a continuation of some of the conversations we've had recently. I was in front of the finance budget committee back in September to talk about some of the changes that we were gonna do with the CIP. And even prior to that, I first spoke to the full board of supervisors back in January, about a year ago, to talk about some of the upcoming changes that we were gonna make to the CIP process. Uh Chair Bodhi, I recall that you and I back in January we lamented the fact that we only talk about CIP once a year and that we wanted to get into a a regular rhythm of talking about CIP, you know.
Matthew Cornelison 21:55
quarterly or whatever it may be. So I really view this meeting this morning as the first of those meetings where we're gonna periodically check in with the committee on the CIP. Just a brief outline of what I'm gonna talk about this morning. I mentioned I was here just a couple months ago in September. I'm gonna refresh the committee's memory on what we talked about and what the next steps were gonna be. Then I'm gonna go through a summary of the uh the CIP requests that were submitted by the board members. And then finally at the end we want to talk about What we just heard. We want to get feedback from the committee, what you like, what you didn't like, what your thoughts may be about moving forward next steps.
Matthew Cornelison 22:36
So again, what we talked about back in September, if you recall this rather busy slide, uh this goes through the process of what the new CIP submission process and selection process is gonna be. Moving across the slide from left to right, we began back in August with budget season kicked off. And then it was October, mid October, late October's when agencies and board members submitted their CIP requests. Then those requests went to the new CIP steering committee to be scored. And where we are right now in the bottom right corner of the slide is in that red and white box staff is gonna present the prioritized board list to the finance budget committee. So we're in the beginning of December now. Things are gonna move pretty quickly now.
Matthew Cornelison 23:23
Once requests are submitted, then it's gonna be in the hands of the CXO and board members to discuss how best to proceed with the CIP. Ultimately in February is when the proposed CIP will be presented. And just refresh everyone's memory also about this was an important part of the new process was this form that went out to the board members.
