Good evening and welcome, Santa Clara. My name is Javon Grogan and I have the honor of serving as your city manager. А'лайка also thank the band uh who played a little earlier. Sociedade Philharmonica Unico Portuguese di Santa Clara. Yeah, I I'm actually proud of myself for that. Um But but unfortunately, let's begin tonight uh on a somber note. Um, I want to recognize that we are here at Wilcox High School. And the high school experienced a terrible tragedy over the weekend. One of their students, 16-year-old Isaiah Mendoza, passed away in a car crash on Lawrence Expressway on Saturday night. He was a beloved son, friend, and athlete. We know how difficult it has been for the school community. And they recently gathered here um in this very spot for a vigil.
As a community we grieve with them, and I would like to take a moment before we begin tonight for a moment of silence to recognize the amazing young man who lost his life.
Thank you. It's my pleasure. To welcome you. to the two thousand twenty five state of the city. It's inspiring to be here tonight to look at all of you uh in this packed house, to see neighbors, friends, and community members taking time to connect with one another. but also learn what's happening in your local government. I've been here in Santa Clara as your city manager for a little over two and a half years, and in that time I've seen what truly makes Santa Clara special. І це сенс в прийде та резиденці продли. How you honor your city's rich history while embracing innovation. And share a commitment to building a community where, as we say, people want to live, work and visit.
Every day I see that same pride reflected in the dedication and professionalism of our amazing city staff who work tirelessly to serve you and provide amazing services and programs. Tonight's programme reflects that exact same spirit. We'll begin with opening ceremonies. We'll hear from Mayor Lisa Gilmore as she delivers the State of the City address. We'll also enjoy special performances that showcase the talent in our local community. Next, we will have recognitions from community members in each district, as well as one citywide honoree who who has uplifted the community and made enla and made a lasting impact. With that, it is now my distinct pleasure to introduce our Mayor, Lisa M. Gilmore, to the podium.
Thank you, City Manager Grogan. Wow, that's so loud. And good evening, everyone. I'd like to officially convene this special meeting because I don't know if many of you know this is an official city council meeting. But we will end before midnight, I can promise you that. Um this evening we are honored to have scouts from Troop three ninety four to lead us in the presentation of colors and the pledge of allegiance.

And now please welcome me please join me in welcoming Rowan Biesmeyer, who will lead us in the national anthem. Rowan.
