Alright, at the last monthly meeting, we quickly talked about the two positions that we need to elect and vote in. The uh chair, vice chair are the two positions we need to have on the commission. Then we can discuss if there's other positions that you feel are important for the term and the success of the commission. So that can include a publicist. and it could include a uh secretary, treasurer, etc. etc. But the two we need to do are chair and vice chair. The way we will do it. is we will take nominations. So uh one commissioner can nominate another commissioner. That nominated commissioner needs to accept or decline. We're not gonna go into specifics as to why you may decline. If that is what you so choose, we will accept that decision.

What we did talk about at the last meeting was if you are nominated you accept please take into consideration that You know, your attendance at monthly meetings is going to be expected. Uh coordinating, helping to coordinate and be present and supportive of the various committees is also going to be expected and very important. So the chair and the vice chair, you know, are positions that are going to take up a little bit of your time. So please be sure that your schedule and Okay? Does that make sense? If you are nominated and you do accept, which we hope you do, we want to give you about 30 seconds, maybe a minute, little elevator speech about why you are the best candidate for that position. After all the nominees have made their speeches, you then do a vote.

Typically what we have done is just put your head down, raise you know your hand for the nominee that you so choose. If you want to do it another way, you certainly can. If you want to do a write-in and pass it in, if you tally the votes, we can do that. Uh but we find that it has work very well for us just to kind of put your head down, raise your hand, and everybody's respectful about that. So we will start with Is there a position you want to start with?

So what we'll do is we will open the floor to nominations for the position of the chair for 25, 26 commission term. You may nominate any of our commissioners. Unfortunately, our alternates are not eligible. Voting on your officers is also only for our commissioners. If we go past into uh like I mentioned, publicist or other positions, then we'll include everybody in that voting because those are not quite official positions as it would. Okay. Are there any nominees for the 2526 commission chair? And this is open to anybody. You can be a first year commissioner. Six year commissioner doesn't matter. Let me tell you.

Hey everyone, my name is Lalia. For those of you who don't know, but uh I hope you do know. This is my fifth term on the youth commission. Um last year I served as vice chair, but my goals for this year are really to make sure that we have a bunch of new commissioners on our group. I want to make sure that their voices are heard and they feel welcome to share their ideas and opinions because you know with the five years that I've been on the commission, I don't have a lot of wisdom and experience. And come a long way, and that was only possible with a chair that really facilitated space that welcomed ideas.
