Summer, I believe summer of 75 and they had a comedian on and he was funny and I went and knocked on his dressing room door and I'm like, sir, sorry to bother you.
I thought you were great.
I'm just curious.
How do I become a comedian like you?
And he said, go to the comedy store.
And I said, OK, the comedy store, comedy store.
OK.
And I said, by the way, sir, once again, what's the name of that show that you said you're going to have starting in the fall?
He says it's called Welcome Back, Cotter.
Oh, Gabe Kaplan.
And it was Gabe Kaplan.
Wow.
And so I said, thank you, Mr. Kaplan.
I'm going to watch that show.

And I called the comedy store.

And I wasn't even sure what the story was.
I thought the comedy store was a supermarket where you bought jokes.
