And this is the culmination of the Roberts court totally dismantling the 1965 Voting Rights Act.
And there's so many angles to it.

This was an abuse of power, effectively.
I think what they've done here is not only just erode the 1965 Voting Rights Act, they're trying to effectively declare racism over.
Did you see this part of what Alito wrote?
He wrote, he echoed something that Chief Justice Roberts wrote.
He said, "...vast social change has occurred throughout the country, and particularly in the South, which have made great strides in ending entrenched racial discrimination."
which is similar to what Chief Justice Roberts said in 2013, which was along the lines of basically our country's changed.
So effectively, they're trying to say America is not racist anymore.
We don't need this.
